This bright and showy iris is being named in honor of Thomas’s grandmother. It is a beauty to look at and a durable workhorse in the garden. Clear vivid yellow standards color is repeated over the hafts. Mid lavender blue blended falls give way to brassy gold bands.

TB Early-Midseason 38” (96.5cm)
Sweet fragrance. Egg shell to light lavender standards with a narrow buff-gold ruffled rim. Milk glass white falls have a deep violet plicata band. There is a heavy concentration of violet across the hafts that forms a solid violet dart below burnt orange beards. Contrasting medium salmon style arms and a slight blush of salmon on the hafts of the falls completes the effect. A super strong grower with lovely show stems and triple bud sockets from top to bottom yields 12 or more total buds.

TB Midseason-late 36” (91.5cm)
This is a color combination I am a bit of a sucker for. Brilliant bright yellow standards that are exceptionally clean are held over light to medium lavender falls. The falls have deeper texture veins that run the length of the petals and the hafts are touched yellow. Strong stems on large classically formed flowers. The overall effect is a super clean bicolor that oozes class. Sdlg. TL7A: Barbara Rider X Hospitality.

Light ruby veins and wire rim encircle light gold standards. Dark gold style crests have dark brown stripes. White fall centers are outrageously veined and sanded dark wine transitioning into wide solid red-black band with crinkle laced edges dotted white. Show stalks with 3-4 branches and 8-10 buds. Pink Standards; Falls have a light pink to white ground with a lavender stitched plicata band. Orange Beards are tipped white. We really like this plicata coming from non-traditional plicata breeding at least on the mother’s side. A strong grower and a fun color combination. Large flowers have nice wide and ruffled form. We have been hybridizing heavily with BEAUTICIAN.

Sweet fragrance. Yes, another ‘Crocodile Smile’ offspring. To say its plicata markings are subtle is an understatement. Some might question it being a plicata, but both parents are plicatas. It isn’t a glaciata because there are some subtle anthocyanin markings. A beautifully elegant flower, with all good garden traits, it should be an excellent parent. Standards are warm white with a pale stitched edge. Falls are warm white with minimum buff plicata hafts and edge. Sdlg. The hazy anthocyanin (blue to purple pigments) over the lower falls of plicatas have been informally dubbed “ghost plics” because of their ethereal appearance. It is probably a variant of the Celestar pattern and can vary considerably in intensity and application. White standards are heavily plic sanded over centers becoming solid toward red plum bands lined darker plum and showcasing unique black plum styles. Wide white falls have 3/4 inch stitched and sanded lilac plic bands with ghostly light lilac rouging inside them and dark plum haft markings. Mid marigold beards are a delightful accent. Show stalks have 4 branches and spur and 10-12 buds. Later bloom helps ensure a quality performance in colder climates.

When working with bicolors and amoenas, neglectas are so often encountered and usually dismissed as just another neglecta. This one however defies that perception. It is so captivating when you see it in the garden. The standards are lavender-lilac and the falls are rich violet with a well-defined 3/8” edge of lavender. Beards are burnt tangerine. Wide overlapping falls, ruffles showing quite a bit of lace. Well branched with show stems and fertile. Super.
