She is the belle of the ball with her full figure draped in sumptuous pink ruffles and lace. Standards are mid pink with no trace of peach. The creamy white complexion of the falls is washed overall mid pink with darker pink texture veins. Fluffy coral pink beards coordinate well with this fine couture. She has a strong sweet perfume. Three branches provide 7-8 buds. ‘Bubbly Beauty’ is being used heavily in pursuit of blues with pink beards.

Standards are creamy white with pinkish centers. Falls are wide and ruffled with a deep violet purple center wash that transitions to a very wide lavender band. Its striking pattern is displayed on nicely branched and budded stems. A nice clean and sharp addition to the rimmed pattern.

Pronounced sweet fragrance It is a crazy quilt of plicata color and pattern. Butter standard centers have slate violet plic dotting and blend to wide brass-gold bands. Yellow to cream falls have descending plic marks of rust, garnet and light violet then banded brass gold.

Butterfly Eye is an example of the recently emerging cascade patterns where the fall centers have various contrasting colors, from veins to solid cascades. Light slate violet standards blend to a wide pale violet-white band. Wide pale violet-blue falls help emphasize the cascade patterning. Large dark indigo blue hafts transition to widely spaced dark indigo veins and mottling. Fat beards are an interesting tobacco brown. Strong growth produces show stalks.

Light sweet fragrance. Flesh pink Standards with deeper pink centers and a bit of lavender shot up the midrib. Falls are a rich deep royal purple with a lighter purple edge. This is the closest to a dark blue amoena I’ve seen. Others have varying widths of white bands. ‘By The Sea’ does have a white wire rim which accents the blue fall. It produces many stalks on vigorous plants. Clumps create an immediate focal point in the landscape.

Imagine loads of sun, sandy beaches, and music with a Latin beat when Calypso Joe appears in his flamboyant attire. The light butter ground of the standards is widely banded dark wine with random plicata marks over their centers. Bright mid yellow falls have dark wine hafts extending beyond the root beer beard and ending in an irregular dart. The plicata markings are wide in upper 1/3 then becoming narrow. Robust growth produces strong stalks with 3 branches and 9-10 buds. Quite a showstopper.

Sweet fragrance Lavender blue standards; falls are lavender blue with a deeper violet blue brindled wash. Beards are burnt orange with lavender tips. Can Just Imagine is very tall and stately with beautiful show stems. It is a “fancy” which in hybridizing talk means it is about one generation away from being a luminata. A unique and striking feature is beautiful lavender spathes and stems. It is very hard to photograph but is very noticeable in the garden. We have used this one quite a lot in hybridizing. Sweet fragrance. Deep purple black standards sit atop black falls with a lighter rim and smoldering orange beards. This is a pattern we continue to work on for depth of color, ruffles, and lace.
