She has it all, grace, charm, looks, and poise - she's a SUPER MODEL. This SUPER MODEL excels where other heavily laced violet types have failed. When she finishes blooming there is still plenty of increase left. Many visitors to the AIS convention this past year remarked on that trait. Perfectly formed medium lilac flowers are edged in heavy crinkled lace. With all this lace, SUPER MODEL still opens easily. Strong show stalks normally open two well placed flowers at once. Be the first one on your block with your own SUPER MODEL. Hopefully this will be the key to unlock the overbloom problem in this color range.

Standards have a yellow ground, showing more in the centers, that is overlaid with deep raspberry plicata dotting and becoming more solid at the edge. Falls have a yellow and white blended ground with raspberry plicata hafts and edge. Show stems carry up to 9 buds.

A delightful mix of colors. The standards are soft lilac with a blended 1/4” edge of buff pink and flush at the midribs. The falls are light burgundy, lightning at the beards and set off with a well-defined 1/4” edge of muted gold. Beards are soft old gold. Flowers are ruffled and wide and there are plenty of buds with some show stems. Just a slight perfume.

MAGIC TRICK (T. Johnson ’19)

Cocoa pink S with darker pink veining. Falls are deeper cocoa pink with darker veining and a light cocoa pink edge. What really makes this one stand out are the large Cocoa pink beards that are frosted white on the tips. A nicely ruffled uniquely colored creation. Very distinctive and pretty.

BLUSHING DOLL is an unusual blend of pink and lavender. The pink is more concentrated at the hafts and edges of the petals. A nice frosted blue beard adds to the beauty. Nice wide and ruffled form gives BLUSHING DOLL a very elegant look. A very pretty iris.

Bright yellow Standards. Falls have a large cinnamon central spot surrounded by a wide white border and then a gold band. A very unique creation and proving to be a great parent for unique patterns. Different!!

TRUTH OR DARE (T. Johnson ’18)

A total new pattern in TBs is emerging. We have loved this one from its maiden bloom. Garden nickname had been “pansy face” because it reminds us of a pattern you would find on a Pansy flower. Standards are lemon yellow deeper at the base. Falls are white with a faint yellow halo band near edge of petals. What really sets this flower off is the dramatic rusy to red central signal that surrounds the orange beard. Not the easiest of parents but from what we have bloomed from it so far it is well worth the effort. Nice stem with up to 8 buds.

White ground standards are almost completely sanded and dotted gold, lighter in the center. Falls are white with deep red violet hafts and rim at distal end of petal. The border on the sides of the fall is heavily dotted medium lavender. Yellow beards with light lavender tips add to the interest. This is a very interesting and different color combination for a plicata. Very lovely and cheery. A good strong grower with nice stems and buds and classic form. Fantastic! Sadly, for hybridizers the cross tag had faded and I could not read it, so it is unknown parentage.

Here’s another of my genetic broken color types with strong growth and well- branched and budded stalks. Mid mulberry standards have limited random palest violet splashes. Falls have random streaks and splashes of mid mulberry and palest violet. Hafts are streaked plum and tan. Flowers are nicely ruffled and have a sweet fragrance. Show stalks have 2-3 branches and 7-9 buds. A more subtle broken color.

You’ve found unique with this superb, classically formed broken color variety. White blossoms have standards randomly splashed light orchid and falls randomly streaked and splashed dark to mid orchid. Show stalks have 3 branches and 7-8 buds. Vigorous and easy grower from this genetic broken color. Bred to another genetic broken color, it gives a very high percentage of broken color seedlings.

This was tagged for introduction from the beginning and it didn’t disappoint over its trial period. Heavily ruffled and laced standards have dark red violet bases blending paler over centers to wide oyster bands. Oyster falls are washed palest red violet and blending darker to silver white rims and veined darker over centers.

This lovely divinity frosted confection is perfection. Pinkish white standards are lined light pink with edges touched palest blue. Interiors are white with blush pink outer bands. White falls blend to pale pink with minimal gray violet plic marked hafts. Strong stalks have 4 branches and 13-14 buds.

It is quite a mysterious iris. Mid-dark slate purple standards have wide light gray tan blended bands. Their interior is a much brighter mid purple. Diamond dusted eggshell falls blend outward to pale butter and have silver gray texture veins. Strong stalks have 3 branches and 6-7 buds. A moderate sweet fragrance is a plus.

This exceptional iris is the result of compounding the genes of three extraordinary irises. Growth, vigor, stalks and buds are all top-notch as are its colorful flowers. Pale mauve pink standards centers blend to creamy tan and are etched with darker lines. Interior is pale lilac with darker center streak. Creamy tan styles have mid violet centers. Mid violet blue falls are paler around burnt orange beards and darker moving outward and narrowly banded light slate gray.

Passion fills the air along with a mild sweet fragrance. These yummy flowers have light pink standards blended paler to buff edges that open slightly to reveal mid apricot styles. Heavily substanced mid cantaloupe falls are shaded a bit golden toward edges. Heavily saturated orange beards color continues in a paler streak. Stalks have 2 branches and 7 buds. Nicely ruffled and lightly laced.

Unlike some guests, you’ll be glad when ‘It’s Me Again’ returns after its spring bloom. Pale straw standards blend darker to mid golden wheat margins. Wide mid golden wheat blended falls have icy white centers with violet stripes at end of two toned beards. Superb show stalks with 3 branches and 9-10 buds.

No word description will do it justice. The falls plic pattern somewhat approximates a pumila spot plicata. Mid cantaloupe styles peer from inside light pink standards blending to buff margins. Mid cantaloupe falls have mid plum plicata hafts and streak at the end of tangerine beards. The plic band becomes paler and narrower as it continues around the falls. Five branches and 10-11 buds.

What better way to display ‘Elegant Ruffles’ than with subtle shaded blendings of mulberry and raspberry. Even the muted pale tangerine to pale violet beards maintain this refined presence. It is stunning as a single cut show stalk having 4 branches and 9-10 buds. There are strong pink and blue genes woven into this beauty.
