Wow, wild splashes of color make ‘color wheel’ a most desirable addition to your garden. The upper third of standards is etched with gold veins while centers are blushed peach pink. Heavily ruffled falls have mid peach centers blended to cream then widely banded with irregularly washed red grape bands that are then narrowly banded oxblood and finally pale silvery lilac. A wide eye-poping beard is bright orange to light gold. Two well-spaced branches have 7 buds. Proving to be an excellent parent.

It’s not only colorful but also has a zingy pattern. Mid yellow color of standards and styles repeats in the fall hafts. Irregular yellow veins continue over center of white falls changing to mid red violet veins inside wide brassy auburn bands. Light marigold beards are a nice complement. All petals are amply ruffled. Stalks have 3 branches and 8-9 buds. Mild sweet fragrance.

One of the first TB iris to flower and a good splash of color to kick off the season. Cream Standards are flushed heavily with peach in the center that transition to faint peach veins extending to the petal edges. Falls are a rich cantaloupe blending to more peach at the edges. Heavy bloom makes a very startling and showy clump.

This lovely divinity frosted confection is perfection. Pinkish white standards are lined light pink with edges touched palest blue. Interiors are white with blush pink outer bands. Slight musky fragrance SDB plicatas continue to evolve. ‘Contemplate’ brings reverse yellow plicatas into being. Butter standards have wide dark khaki plicata bands. Lightly fragrant. More coral than pink, this self reminds me of the coral jewelry you can obtain in Hawaii. The color always stops me in the garden because of its intensity. The coral-pink is a little creamy around the beards. Beards are coral, lightening to peach at the upturned tip. Flowers are ruffled with slightly crimped edges. Sweet fragrance. White ground standards are almost completely overlaid gold. The midrib is flushed violet. Falls are white with a deep velvet red band. There is medium red violet dotted band inside the darker band. Nicely ruffled flowers on a very bright and pleasing color combination. A nice classically ruffled form completes the look. Sdlg. Standards have a white ground almost completely overlaid with lavender plicata dotting and a very narrow purple wire edge. Falls are white heavily overlaid with deep purple black dotting at the hafts and forming a wide band. Nice burnt orange beards pop out of the center adding nice contrast. A very nice early variety that has wonderful stems and covers itself in bloom. Outstanding in clump!!

COURAGEOUS ONE (Thomas Johnson ’22)

Light sweet fragrance. Canary yellow standards lightening towards the edge. Falls are a very light yellow base washed slightly darker to the edge. A large rust red signal radiates out from around the beards and extends half way down the fall. Nicely proportioned BB and very showy and unique.

Pronounced sweet fragrance This exciting variety is a clandestine exploration of what takes place at night. Standards have dark violet blue elliptical centers blending to wide dark purple bands underlaid with black veins. Halfmoon white fall centers on black falls are veined overall purple black. Mid gold beards glow in the darkness. White dotted rims encircle these dark beauties. Three branches have 8-9 buds. This cross yielded many superb seedlings to choose from. Sdlg.
