Sweet fragrance. White ground standards are almost completely overlaid gold. The midrib is flushed violet. Falls are white with a deep velvet red band. There is medium red violet dotted band inside the darker band. Nicely ruffled flowers on a very bright and pleasing color combination. A nice classically ruffled form completes the look. Sdlg. Standards have a white ground almost completely overlaid with lavender plicata dotting and a very narrow purple wire edge. Falls are white heavily overlaid with deep purple black dotting at the hafts and forming a wide band. Nice burnt orange beards pop out of the center adding nice contrast. A very nice early variety that has wonderful stems and covers itself in bloom. Outstanding in clump!!

Light sweet fragrance. Canary yellow standards lightening towards the edge. Falls are a very light yellow base washed slightly darker to the edge. A large rust red signal radiates out from around the beards and extends half way down the fall. Nicely proportioned BB and very showy and unique.

Pronounced sweet fragrance This exciting variety is a clandestine exploration of what takes place at night. Standards have dark violet blue elliptical centers blending to wide dark purple bands underlaid with black veins. Halfmoon white fall centers on black falls are veined overall purple black. Mid gold beards glow in the darkness. White dotted rims encircle these dark beauties. Three branches have 8-9 buds. This cross yielded many superb seedlings to choose from. Sdlg. ‘Crashing Whitecaps’ is a superior iris in all respects. You’ll be glad you have it in your garden when you see its clump filled with show stalks standing tall among robust clean foliage. Pronounced sweet fragrance If I could have only one of my plicatas to breed with, it would be this one. Its genetic diversity, including several instances of ‘Dolce’ plus SDBs, IBs, tet MTBs, BBs and TBs, has given rise to unique colors and patterns in addition to solid growth. White ground standards are washed pale mustard becoming darker toward edges then embellished with darker mustard fine veining overall and white edges. Yellow styles are held within strongly held standards. Expansive white ground falls are widely plicata banded dark olive gold with more olive random dotting and line down centers, over centers and haft. Unique olive gold beards complete this unusual creature. Three branches have 7-8 buds.

Large blocky blooms have broad undulating ruffles and yet still maintain a tightly structured form. The light salmon flowers have falls that blend darker toward their edges and are lined overall darker salmon. Large beards are a mélange of gray-white, brown, and tangerine. Husky growth produces stalks with 2 branches plus 2 spurs producing 8 buds.

Sweet fragrance. Yellow standards. Falls have a white ground with yellow hafts and wide band. Maroon lines radiate out across the hafts and below the beard forming a pattern. The cross that produced Curly Fries was made note only for color but form. Both parents are known to transmit a nice ruffled form to its children so it seemed like a perfect marriage. Really beautiful ruffles and a bright orange beard. Very cool looking.

Curve Ball is all about the beard. Lemon yellow standards; falls are white ground w/ a lemon overlay transitioning to a wide dark violet band. Very large tang. beards extend longer than usual down the fall. 7 buds on good stalks. Form is a bit funky but add to the appeal.

You gotta “wove that kwazy wittle duck”! ‘Daffy Duck’ is impossibly cute and you can bet he’ll put a smile on your face. Purple black standards sit atop velvety black falls. A nest of short white veins accents the vibrant orange red beards. Super vigorous plants produce massive clumps packed with stalks and bloom. This is a favorite among garden visitors. Use to breed BBs, IBs and even tet MTBs. Superb variety in every way. Thank you Don and Ginny Spoon for suggesting the name.

Slight sweet fragrance. This damsel does not need rescuing, she has strong stalks holding up to 10 buds on four branches. She is dressed all in deep pinkish orchid with her skirt (falls) washed a deeper shade, and trimmed in lace. On the inside (styles) she is wearing dusky deep peach. Her sash (beards) are dark pinkish coral. She makes a lovely splash in the garden. Sdlg. 4616B: Strawberry Shake X 2313: (Eye Candy x Let’s Be Brazen).

Beige standards with violet flush up the midrib and slight gold blending at petal edges. Falls are a rich deep lavender becoming lighter at the edge. Burnt orange beards are tipped deep lavender. This is a very classy looking iris with gorgeous form and wide ruffles on show stems with ample buds. A very dependable and consistent showoff in clump. Nice!!

DANCE TILL DAWN (T.Johnson '11)

When you’ve got this much starch and substance, it’s easy to Dance Till Dawn. Bright golden yellow flowers have tightly crimped and ruffled edges. Fall centers become lighter, ending in small white patches beneath tangerine to yellow beards. It has strong growth and show branched stalks as one would expect from its parent Dream Team. Foliage is clean and healthy. Should be a very interesting parent with genes from pink and blue breeding plus the much heralded Decadence.
