This exceptional iris is the result of compounding the genes of three extraordinary irises. Growth, vigor, stalks and buds are all top-notch as are its colorful flowers. Pale mauve pink standards centers blend to creamy tan and are etched with darker lines. Interior is pale lilac with darker center streak. Creamy tan styles have mid violet centers. Mid violet blue falls are paler around burnt orange beards and darker moving outward and narrowly banded light slate gray.

Unlike some guests, you’ll be glad when ‘It’s Me Again’ returns after its spring bloom. Pale straw standards blend darker to mid golden wheat margins. No word description will do it justice. The falls plic pattern somewhat approximates a pumila spot plicata. Mid cantaloupe styles peer from inside light pink standards blending to buff margins. Mid cantaloupe falls have mid plum plicata hafts and streak at the end of tangerine beards. The plic band becomes paler and narrower as it continues around the falls. Five branches and 10-11 buds.

‘Crashing Whitecaps’ is a superior iris in all respects. You’ll be glad you have it in your garden when you see its clump filled with show stalks standing tall among robust clean foliage. Icy white standards with green veining up the midrib. Falls are white with gold veined hafts and gold and purple blended veins on either side of the beard. Then there is almost a complete white bar across the falls which transitions into purple lines and wash and finally a light lemon edge. A very complex color pattern indeed. Even the beard is different. The hairs are white at the base then orange and finally red at the tips. Nice branching and strong growth and 8 buds. A favorite seedling of mine for the last few years. Very distinctive and won’t be confused with anything else.
