Pink standards rise above light pink falls with a deep peach pink haft. Beards are large and a combination of blue and white. A super easy grower with great form.

COZY KITTY (P. Black '25)

This kitty looks more like it is ready to go partying rather than cozy up at home. Falls on light pink flowers with mid pink styles have mid red-purple lined and sanded hafts and center stripes. Beards are flaming neon coral pink. Makes a joyful clump. Another interesting parentage.

CRISS CROSS (Thomas Johnson ’22)

Sweet fragrance. Lavender blue standards. Falls the same, only with a rust overlay spray pattern with a clean lavender center belly stripe below bushy blue beards.

CURLY FRIES (Thomas Johnson ’22)

Sweet fragrance. Yellow standards. Falls have a white ground with yellow hafts and wide band. Maroon lines radiate out across the hafts and below the beard forming a pattern. The cross that produced Curly Fries was made note only for color but form. Both parents are known to transmit a nice ruffled form to its children so it seemed like a perfect marriage. Really beautiful ruffles and a bright orange beard. Very cool looking.

DAINTY BRIDE (P. Black '25)
SDB Late-very late 14” (35.5cm) Slight sweet fragrance.
It is another of my late blooming, multiple budded and branched SDBs. The flowers are a miniaturized version of Bride’s Halo. White flowers have narrow light yellow bands. Show stalks have three branches and 8-9 buds. Unheard of for a SDB. From two of my favorite varieties.

DARK EYED LASS (P. Black '25)

Here it is, the one many of you have been asking about since I first posted its picture on FB. I’m also in love with it. It is one of those irises where everything works together to make a stunning creation. Light yellow standard centers blend to wide stark white bands. Irregularly edged big brown-black fall spots transition to wide white bands, including a white dart up their distal center. A nest of white darts encircles white beards. OH MY!

Pronounced spicy fragrance Absolutely beautiful in every way – form, color and plants. Round and gently ruffled falls of mid violet blue flowers have large darker violet blue spots with white darts over hafts. Soft pale blue beards are the perfect accent. Slight fragrance. Peach to orange standards and narrow band on light mauve pink falls. There is a violet plicata overlay around the beard & inside the narrow band. We are using this one heavily in breeding to intensify the unique contrasting band on the falls. Nicely ruffled, flashy and charming. Sdlg. I continue to work at intensifying the blue beards, and Dreams Alive is another step in that direction. A great all around iris with buds, form, color and vigor!

No fragrance. White luminata type patches surround striking marigold beards on this bright clear yellow-gold glaciata. What a gorgeous clump!

Three buds on this little cutie that always reminds me of fried eggs whenever I see it. Light yellow Standards; Falls have large egg yolk yellow spot with a wide white border. White styles and white tipped yellow beards complete the package.

Epilogue is another iris people have been waiting for. It is from my long running attempt to put lace on SDBs. The fall edges of this pretty flower are serrated but not truly laced. It seems I may never hit the goal. Light pink standards have light gilt yellow bands. Light pink styles look out over falls having light-mid yellow hafts and wide blended band with pale flesh pink centers.

EXTREME (P. Black '21)

Yes, ‘Extreme’ ruffles and ‘Extreme’ color made this a top contender for introduction from its first bloom. Peach blooms are heavily washed dark orange giving a seductive depth of color. Huge dark orange beards grab your eye as you approach. Strong growth. Three buds on stalks with one branch.

Nicely formed SDB rebloomer. Standards of white flowers have wide mid violet plicata bands and falls have mid-violet lines from haft to edges.

FAMOUS (P. Black '21)

'‘Famous’ is a minimal plicata that is wonderfully unique. Dark mahogany standards are lightly laced and rimmed mid tan. Cream styles have mid mahogany ridge and crest centers. Dark yellow throat and hafts of falls are plicata lined and sanded black mahogany. The lower 2/3rds of fall is dark mahogany black. Big bright beards are two-toned marigold to yellow. So far it has been a difficult parent.
