Sweet fragrance. medium flesh pink standards. Falls are blended lavender blue with a washed orchid band and lavender edge. Fall centers are washed with a light pink. Large and nicely ruffled flowers are well branched and budded. A very regal and beautiful iris. Sdlg. Z29-2:

Slight fragrance. Yellow standards. Falls are deep orchid purple with a yellow zone on either side of the orange beard. Very wide and overlapping falls are nicely ruffled. Nicely formed flowers are held on tall well branched and budded stems. A favorite. Sdlg. Z29-A: In Grand Style sib.

SHEER MADNESS (B. Blyth ’23)

Musky fragrance. Standards have lilac blue centers that are bordered in reddish violet plicata dotting. Falls have a light-yellow ground that is overlaid with light red around beard, then the ground color becomes a dark yellow that is overlaid with a dark red wash to the petal edge. A very complex color combination that is very pretty and unique. Sdlg. X213-AA:

OH SO DIFFERENT (Paul Black 23)

No fragrance It takes center stage with one of the most dramatically unique flowers. Standards and falls are both a study in color and pattern. Light buffy tan blended standards are widely banded with fine dark plum filigree. Old gold style crests striped dark brown emerge from between them. White falls are a puzzle of purple black veins and sanding overall becoming darker and more closely spaced toward edges. White stitching on reverses adds more distinction. Mid marigold beards help focus the eye. Of course, this has been a favorite since it first bloomed. Three branches have 8-9 buds. Easy and fast growth. Sdlg. AA73L, How Bizarre! Sib

Pronounced sweet fragrance Oh yes, that big billowy ruffled form is something to shout about. Mid red violet standards have ruffled light buff bands and subtle gray-white veins shot outward from their centers. Styles are light buff. Mid dark red violet blended falls have muted fine gray-white lines overall, narrow gray-white bands and white luminata patch. Beards progress from mid marigold ending in white. Slight sweet fragrance. As I work toward pink ground plicatas interesting combos are happening. The standards of Perky Lass are light pinkish salmon, lightly washed light violet. Falls are pinkish-salmon bordered with heavy maroon dotting, heaviest beside striking dark tangerine beards. 7 to 8 buds are held on show stalks. Sdlg. 5817C: 9813A, Lost cross X Powder Keg.

MONET PAINTING (L. Miller ’23)

Light sweet fragrance. The markings and color of this iris remind me of a fine Monet painting. Standards are bordered dark apricot diffusing to medium plum purple in the center. The dark apricot styles are tinted purple and are fringed. Falls have wide borders of plum purple that streaks into the medium apricot center. Extending from the dark tangerine beards are plum purple belly stripes. Great stalks with three branches support 9-13 buds. 5217A: Hot Wired sib.

Slight fragrance. This iris has fascinated me since its maiden bloom. The pattern is different especially for a horned variety. Standards and styles are a medium coral pink. Flaring falls are like a zebra. Is it medium orchid violet with pink veins or deep pink with medium orchid violet veins? The falls also have a defined narrow band of pink-orchid. DAMSEL IN LACE (L. Miller ’23)

Slight sweet fragrance. This damsel does not need rescuing, she has strong stalks holding up to 10 buds on four branches. She is dressed all in deep pinkish orchid with her skirt (falls) washed a deeper shade, and trimmed in lace. On the inside (styles) she is wearing dusky deep peach. Light sweet fragrance. Light lemon standards have dark lemon centers extending to deep lemon veining to petal edge. Falls are a rich dark maroon with a slightly lighter area around the beard and then a light cherry rose band surrounds the petal. Nicely ruffled and branched with good clean color contrast. Sdlg. Sweet fragrance. Standards are lavender with pink veining and infusions in the center. Contrasting medium salmon pink style arms are quite noticeable. Light sweet fragrance. It is hard not to think positive when viewing this happy, cheerful iris. Standards are a brilliant canary yellow. Falls are creamy white with a canary yellow haft and band. There is also a touch of lilac on the shoulders and blushed below the beard. An interesting and beautiful application of color. Nicely ruffled, well-branched show stems are the norm. Sdlg. Sweet fragrance. Old gold standards have a heavy infusion of rose violet in the center. Falls are a rosy lavender with a deeper haft and fall edge. The hafts are also slightly touched gold on either side of the beard. Rather large flowers are lightly ruffled and laced. Show stems are the norm on this rich beauty.
