If you need a bold spalsh of color in your garden, ‘Painted Love’ is the iris for you. Mid gold standards are blushed red violet. Wide blue violet falls have Indian red bands and hafts and are paler around deep marigold beards. Nine buds on well branched stalks add to its appeal. Reminds us of an updated version of the old classic ‘Syncopation’.

A difficult blending of colors to describe. Standards are eggshell white with opal pink blushed centers. Falls are Lavender with an eggshell rim. What really sets this off is the beard. The beard is violet with orange hair tips becoming more solid dark blue to violet at the end. Gorgeous form on nice show stems compete the effect. We love this iris!!

‘Winter’s Smile’ is big and broad and smiling from ear to ear. Here’s another selection from the “beauty” cross. Plush warm white flowers have big looping ruffles. Standards have a greenish blush up midribs. Strongly flared falls are blushed palest gold over hafts. Warm white beards touched pale tan don’t detract from the classic sculp- tured form. Robust clean growth produces clumps filled with show stalks having 3 branches and 9-10 buds.

Sweet fragrance. Egg shell to light lavender standards with a narrow buff-gold ruffled rim. Milk glass white falls have a deep violet plicata band. There is a heavy concentration of violet across the hafts that forms a solid violet dart below burnt orange beards. Contrasting medium salmon style arms and a slight blush of salmon on the hafts of the falls completes the effect. A super strong grower with lovely show stems and triple bud sockets from top to bottom yields 12 or more total buds.

Slight sweet fragrance. Brilliant coral pink self being a bit darker in the standards. The white beards are the perfect complement. A favorite of mine and used heavily in hybridizing.

Light sweet fragrance. Medium orange standards blushed violet in the midrib. Falls have a creamy pink ground. There is a lighter area around and below the beard that becomes a band of purple dotting and then finally a gold edge. Brilliant tangerine beards top it off. Phew, what a wild and bright color combo!!

Sweet fragrance. White standards with slight lavender blush at base. Medium lavender blue falls with lighter wash in the center becoming deeper at the edge. Rather large bushy beards tangerine leaning towards red. Nicely formed, heavily ruffled, and lightly laced flowers are held on well branched and budded stems. Beautiful in the garden and a favorite since its maiden bloom.

Light sweet fragrance. It is hard not to think positive when viewing this happy, cheerful iris. Standards are a brilliant canary yellow. Falls are creamy white with a canary yellow haft and band. There is also a touch of lilac on the shoulders and blushed below the beard. An interesting and beautiful application of color. Nicely ruffled, well-branched show stems are the norm. Sdlg. S have a light orange base with a purple center wash. Falls have a cream ground with darker purple wash and light orange edge. Cream patch around beards has a light orange blush on either side.

Pronounced sweet fragrance Some seedlings are destined for introduction from the moment they open. This is one. It remains a favorite. White standards have light yellow centers changing to veining moving outward. Mid yellow styles echo the standards. Upper two-thirds of white falls are covered with heavy closely spaced dark red-brown veins and mottling. A white stripe bisects them. Neat half and half beards are mid gold ending in white. Beards are a lovely violet blue with just a brushing of orange at the hair tips, giving a very pretty effect.
