Peach pink Standards with lighter peach edge. Falls have a peach pink ground overlaid and washed with deeper lavender texture vein lines. The falls are then encircled with a lighter peach edge. The flowers are full formed and heavily ruffled and laced. Nicely branched stems. The flower can vary being more clean peach tones with lighter violet fall veins in warm sunny weather and showing more violet and more pronounced veining especially in the falls on cooler cloudy days. Check out both photos to see the difference. Either way it is very pretty and unique. Very different!

She is the belle of the ball with her full figure draped in sumptuous pink ruffles and lace. Standards are mid pink with no trace of peach. The creamy white complexion of the falls is washed overall mid pink with darker pink texture veins. Fluffy coral pink beards coordinate well with this fine couture. She has a strong sweet perfume. Three branches provide 7-8 buds. ‘Bubbly Beauty’ is being used heavily in pursuit of blues with pink beards.

Yes, ‘Extreme’ ruffles and ‘Extreme’ color made this a top contender for introduction from its first bloom. Peach blooms are heavily washed dark orange giving a seductive depth of color. Huge dark orange beards grab your eye as you approach. Strong growth. Three buds on stalks with one branch.

Cream Standards are flushed and washed pink and lavender. Falls have a peach to orange haft area and slightly lighter fall edge. Deep purple diffused lines radiate from below the beards to near petals edge. Even the beards are a strange blend of coral pink to lavender. A lovely color combination that is hard to describe.

Light lemon-yellow standards are washed and veined a darker lemon. Falls are a medium lavender blue with a dark maroon wash, deepening at the hafts. A lighter lavender fall band and center belly stripe that extends from below the beard to the petals edge completes the pattern. Super strong growth with large showy flowers on nice show stems. A longer season of bloom was also noted in the field this year.

It is amazing to have three prime selections from the same cross. This luminata plicata has old gold standards washed darker brass overall and interesting green midribs. Mid gold styles lead to bold yellow luminata type fall spots that have light tan plicata markings becoming mid cinnamon toward edges. The lower half of fall is dark mahogany with a gilt gold rim. The big burnt orange beards will make you go ‘Wow Gee Whiz’. Great from a distance or up close. Strong growth.

Light sweet fragrance. Canary yellow standards lightening towards the edge. Falls are a very light yellow base washed slightly darker to the edge. A large rust red signal radiates out from around the beards and extends half way down the fall. Nicely proportioned BB and very showy and unique.

Pronounced sweet fragrance. Yes, it was love a first sight and that hasn’t changed in its subsequent years of evaluation. It is at the top of my favorite SDBs. Bright, cheery and personable are good descriptors for it. White styles peer from inside bright yellow standards veined and toned slate violet in upper third. Bright yellow luminata patches give way to white shoulders blending to light lilac washed falls veined overall dark lilac. Two toned orange and marigold beards add fiery passion. Variable color and markings. Fabulous parent.

Slight sweet fragrance. What shall I be? This one is ‘Slightly Confused’. Icy blue-white standards sometimes have wide light pink segments and the same for the falls. Sometimes falls are icy blue-white washed light pink overall. Showy beards are always dark violet blue.

Pronounced sweet fragrance If I could have only one of my plicatas to breed with, it would be this one. Its genetic diversity, including several instances of ‘Dolce’ plus SDBs, IBs, tet MTBs, BBs and TBs, has given rise to unique colors and patterns in addition to solid growth. White ground standards are washed pale mustard becoming darker toward edges then embellished with darker mustard fine veining overall and white edges. Yellow styles are held within strongly held standards. Expansive white ground falls are widely plicata banded dark olive gold with more olive random dotting and line down centers, over centers and haft. Unique olive gold beards complete this unusual creature. Three branches have 7-8 buds.

Essentially a deep maroon around and below the beard that blends out to a washed maroon over lavender and finally forming a gold band. Beautiful form with consistent show stems the norm. Light fragrance. The color of Secret Chord is hard to describe but here we go. Standards have a brassy gold base then they are washed and dotted mulberry in the center finally forming a brass band. Falls are creamy white with deep violet on either side of, (and forming a dart just below), the beard. There is a deep mulberry red fall band with purple violet dots inside the band. All in all it makes for a very startling color combo. Combine all that with wide heavily ruffled form and you have a grand garden iris. We have used Secret Chord heavily in our breeding program. Light fragrance. White standards have a heavy peach pink washed center. Falls are Light orange with violet lines radiating out from below the beard. There is a wide orange band at the petal edge and within the band in the center is a large concentration of violet dots. Finally, we are starting to combine the dots and speckles pattern in a more controlled fashion instead of just random. It is also exciting to get some different colors going in the lined pattern. Pronounced sweet fragrance Vibrant sunny dark gold standards beam down on toasty mid to dark brown falls blended over a mid-gold base. Centers are washed light brown and etched with darker brown veins and finished with gilt gold rims. Mid marigold beards add warmth. Three branches produce 7 buds. Exciting bright clumps. Sdlg.
