When working with bicolors and amoenas, neglectas are so often encountered and usually dismissed as just another neglecta. This one however defies that perception. It is so captivating when you see it in the garden. The standards are lavender-lilac and the falls are rich violet with a well-defined 3/8” edge of lavender. Beards are burnt tangerine. Wide overlapping falls, ruffles showing quite a bit of lace. Well branched with show stems and fertile. Super.

‘Crashing Whitecaps’ is a superior iris in all respects. You’ll be glad you have it in your garden when you see its clump filled with show stalks standing tall among robust clean foliage. Cool white standards and styles color is repeated across the hafts on mid violet blue falls. Mid orange beards vie for attention. Stalks have 3 branches plus spur and 9-11 buds. A sure show winner. Standards mustard to lemon yellow. Falls are a rich medium mauve to violet with a lighter brownish fall edge. Hafts are touched yellow to brown on either side of russet beards. An iris that is a bit difficult to photograph. Super form and ruffles on well branched and budded show stalks. A favorite and tagged for introduction from its maiden bloom. Recommended!!

Lemon yellow standards over red violet falls with lavender band and slight yellow wire rim. Short white lines radiate out on either side of the yellow orange beard. With its super nice ruffled form, we have used Dressed to the Nine’s heavily in hybridizing and is an exceptional parent for form and banded patterns in lots of different colors. There will be many intros from it in the future. Nice stems with good buds complete this quality iris.

Brilliant canary yellow self with very deep, wide black cherry fall band. Beards are orange blending to yellow at the tip. A super strong contrast of colors between the yellow petals and the fall band. The flowers have full rounded and overlapping form on nicely branched stems. Very showy and notable in the garden.

A super clean and sharp pattern really makes PHOTO SHOOT stand out with its pristine white ground and precise blue to violet dotting around both the standards and falls. A dark violet black bar across the hafts and deep purple style arms add to the drama. Even the beards add a bit of mystery being yellow in the throat then becoming lighter with violet tips. PUERTO VALLARTA (T. Johnson ’21)

Puerto Vallarta the iris kind of reminds me of the beautiful sunsets over the ocean on the beach in Puerto Vallarta, thus the name. Brilliant golden yellow standards. Falls have dark yellow hafts that blend to a lighter lemon wash and finally deepening to a mustard yellow edge. Salmon shadings are deeper at the haft becoming a blended wash inside the yellow edge. There is also a large white patch below the intensely saturated yellow/orange beards. A very consistent garden performer with show stems and 9 buds. An easy and strong grower that really adds a bright spot of color in the garden. Super!!
