A favorite of ours from its maiden bloom. Eggshell white Standards with a nice wide gold band and the beginnings of violet veining. Falls are wide and ruffled deep violet with a white ray spray pattern around brilliant orange beards. Nicely ruffled flowers are held on good stems with ample buds. Very showy and a garden favorite.

The clean, dark indigo standards and inky blue black blended falls make this a great addition to the MTB class. Strong growth produces plenty of show stalks with loads of branches and buds. Unusual beards are half bronze brown and half indigo.

The extreme ruffles of Baltic Sea reminds us of the power of crashing, windswept waves as they curl toward the shore. Large, tightly formed medium marine blue flowers are breathtaking when seen singly or in clump. Beards are soft cream to blue-white. Strong growth produces stalks with 3 branches and about 9 buds. Heavy substance helps Baltic Sea maintain its lovely form even in the rain.

Pink Standards; Falls have a light pink to white ground with a lavender stitched plicata band. Orange Beards are tipped white. We really like this plicata coming from non-traditional plicata breeding at least on the mother’s side. A strong grower and a fun color combination. Large flowers have nice wide and ruffled form. We have been hybridizing heavily with BEAUTICIAN.

Classic aril traits and relatively easy culture make this a prime selection for those wanting to give their first arilbred a try. Near white standards are finally netted mid lilac. Falls of big white, heavily ruffled blooms are wildly patterned over their centers with closely spaced networks of lines and veins, becoming a heavier wash toward lower edges. Light tangerine beards are a pleasing accent. Nicely branched stalks have 7 buds. Reliable fall rebloom!

It has strong aril characteristics including the bold burgundy blaze. Mid orchid standards surround mid apricot gold styles. Mid peach apricot hafts blend to mid violet centers banded darker dusky rose. Wide marigold beards narrow to light lavender scruffy ends. Two branches and 5 buds give it a good season of bloom.

Big, round and buxom. She was ‘Born this Way’. Frothy, exuberantly ruffled fuchsia rose falls are widely banded near white with an interesting veined transition between central color and banding. Strong well-branched stalks carry these beauties in regal fashion. Easy increaser. Unfortunately the cross tag was lost.

BOUNDLESS BERRY (P. Black '21)

Border bearded irises are no longer sulky shrinking violets. ‘Boundless Berry’ is testament to that with its robust growth and showy clumps filled with bloom stalks. Compact, heavily ruffled flowers have light warm pink blooms. Fall hafts are rouged red plum and veined cream and shade lighter to narrow warm pink bands. Big, dark sienna beards are an interesting contrast. Show stalks have 3 branches and 7-9 buds. A moderate sweet fragrance is a plus.

She is the belle of the ball with her full figure draped in sumptuous pink ruffles and lace. Standards are mid pink with no trace of peach. The creamy white complexion of the falls is washed overall mid pink with darker pink texture veins. Fluffy coral pink beards coordinate well with this fine couture. She has a strong sweet perfume. Three branches provide 7-8 buds. ‘Bubbly Beauty’ is being used heavily in pursuit of blues with pink beards.

Shorter stalks and compact flowers make this a sure winner for windier areas. Vigorous plants provide sturdy stalks with 3 branches and 8-9 buds. Mid gold styles peer from inside mid yellow standards. Medium butterscotch falls have joyful looping ruffles. Big marigold beards are surrounded by dark tan gold haft veins. Strong spicy fragrance. Many quality seedlings from this cross.

This is the closest to a dark blue amoena I’ve seen. Others have varying widths of white bands. ‘By The Sea’ does have a white wire rim which accents the blue fall. It produces many stalks on vigorous plants. Clumps create an immediate focal point in the landscape.
