A hard iris to describe but here goes. Burnt orange to salmon blended Standards are shot violet in the center. Falls have a cream and salmon ground overlaid with a deep black cherry plicata bar across the hafts and band around edge. Burnt orange to brown beards. Strong well branched stems carry up to 11 buds. A very showy garden favorite! We like!!

Icy blue white standards with green infused midribs. Falls are a lavender blue with white rays extending out from around the beard becoming a wide white border. Very large and wide ruffled flowers draw you in for a closer look. Very pretty!

Sweet fragrance. A bit of a hard color combination to describe. Standards are a muted lavender violet lightening towards the edge and becoming a gold band and then a very light lavender edge. Falls are mostly a deep plush red-violet but with a deeper blue blended central belly stripe. The blue coloration also peeks through closer to the fall edge. The edge of the petal has a border of light flesh pink. The blue tipped beards also add a lot to the pattern. Wonderful large and ruffled flowers with exquisite form that keeps you coming back for another look. 8 buds are borne on nicely branched stems. Proving to be an excellent parent. The color does lighten with age but gracefully and with class.

Sweet fragrance. Golden yellow standards. Falls are very difficult to describe. Essentially a deep maroon around and below the beard that blends out to a washed maroon over lavender and finally forming a gold band. Beautiful form with consistent show stems the norm. Sweet fragrance. Icy white standards are infused light violet and pink at the midrib. Falls are lavender-blue violet with a lighter lavender edge. What brings life to Distant Shores is the pink in the base of the standards. It draws your eye in for a closer inspection of the frosted blue violet beard. Sweet fragrance. Light gold standards are infused deeper gold and violet up the midrib. Falls are a wide and ruffled deep plush burgundy to near black. Nicely branched show stems with good buds make it a show bench contender. The double beard in the photo is an anomaly and does not happen as a regular occurrence. Olivia was not only a very talented celebrity but she was a gorgeous human being. Although I never met her, I certainly followed her career and life. Always a kind, warm and loving person, she never acted the celebrity, taking time to acknowledge all who came upon her. She courageously fought breast cancer in an out of remission for 20 years. Never one to complain she always looked on the positive side of things. The latter part of her life was dedicated to finding a cure for Cancer. She founded the Oliva Newton-John Cancer And Wellness Centre In Melbourne, Australia, the country she called home. Here she tirelessly raised money to support cancer research using plant-based treatments. Lovely Livvy was the pet name the media used throughout Olivia’s life to describe her. The iris we have chosen to honor her kind of named itself. Firstly, it is pink, the color of breast cancer awareness. On top of that, I made the cross in the garden of Barry and Lesley Blyth (using two of Barry’s seedlings), who live only miles from where Olivia grew up. Lovely Livvy is an extraordinary and unique creation in a color combination that has not yet been seen in iris until now. White standards are flushed pink. Falls are a deeper rose pink with a gorgeous ruffled white band. Olivia with her kind and generous heart inspired me to do my part, so I donated a portion of the proceeds of each plant sold in its introductory year (2023) to her Cancer research centre in Australia. This one is a bit hard to describe. Standards are a lovely blended lavender with medium burnt orange centers transitioning to orange veins as they move toward the edge. Falls are a complex blend of colors that appear as a deep burnt orange to red creating a very lovely and distinctive color. Great branching and stems carry well-formed flowers that are a true delight. Coming from the beautifully colored and formed Shockaholic. Challenge Accepted is a nice advancement in this color pattern.

HIGH WIRE ACT (T. Johnson ’25)

High Wire Act is such a beautiful iris, especially in a clump where it really shines, showing off its beautiful gold rim. Standards are cream with very faint gold veining in the center and a violet line up the midrib. The wide ruffled gold band really catches the eye. Falls are white, with a very wide rust red dotted band and white wire rim. A violet line down the center of the petal, from below the beard to the petal’s edge, adds another dimension of intrigue.
