Flowers, flowers everywhere! The exuberant branching and buds insure you’ll have loads of “Airy” flowers over a long time. There are 4 branches plus spur and a basal branch with 1 branch and 5 buds. It normally has at least 20 buds. Classically formed and ruffled sparkling white flowers have mid violet blue plicata band standards surrounding mid violet blue styles. Falls have a wire rim plic edging. Smaller flowers allow flowers to show without crowding. Proportion is its hallmark. Breathtaking clumps!

Deep toasted watermelon standards with lighter edges. Falls are light creamy pink with deeper toasted watermelon area around beard extending to a fall wash and then a light buff pink band. Beige standards with violet flush up the midrib and slight gold blending at petal edges. Falls are a rich deep lavender becoming lighter at the edge. Burnt orange beards are tipped deep lavender. This is a very classy looking iris with gorgeous form and wide ruffles on show stems with ample buds. A very dependable and consistent showoff in clump. Nice!!

A new era of brightly colored, wider and more ruffled tetraploid MTBs is emerging from mixed chromosome breeding. This parentage includes SDBs, IBs, tet MTBs, BBs and TBs. The SDB pollen parent, ‘April Fanfare’, can have 2 branches and 6 buds which helps make it an excellent tet MTB parent. This bright bicolor has unique peach styles and the pattern is pumila spot plicata. ‘FLIRTIN’ SKIRTS’ will make a memorable clump. Can be used in breeding in all median classes and TBs. I’m using it to hopefully produce pumila spot plics in TBs.

Exuberantly ruffled white flowers have indelible inky blue stitched plicata bands around falls. Standards have wide washed and stitched plicata bands with dotting inside them and lines up midribs. Styles are wonderfully contrasted, inky, dark indigo. A clump of INK PATTERNS in the garden is unforgettable. It is sure to catch the judge's eye at shows. Wister Medal 2013. Runner up to the Dykes.

Here’s another in the expanding line of late blooming, multiple budded and branched SDBs. Classically formed flowers have smoky light violet to buff pink blended standards and light pink to violet styles. Mid violet blend falls have cream hafts with dark plum veins that extend downward. Dark orange beards make it even more outrageous. Three well-spaced branches have 7-9 buds.

If you need a bold spalsh of color in your garden, ‘Painted Love’ is the iris for you. Mid gold standards are blushed red violet. Wide blue violet falls have Indian red bands and hafts and are paler around deep marigold beards. Nine buds on well branched stalks add to its appeal. Reminds us of an updated version of the old classic ‘Syncopation’.
