There is a red violet haft that spreads across the falls on either side of the burnt orange beards. Slight fragrance. Pink standards. Falls are pure white with a medium lilac plicata edge and short violet dart below red-orange beards. There is also a red violet lined and dotted bar across the haft. Sweet fragrance. Very pretty shade of mauve to lavender standards, deeper in color at the base. Pretty buff pink style arms add a bit of subtle contrast. Falls are very light mauve to near white. Beards are a true lavender with white hair tips. This iris is from blue bearded pink breeding. I can visualize someday having a white with a large lavender beard. Sdlg. Light fragrance. Brilliant lemon- yellow standards. Falls are a bit complex. The hafts are golden yellow brushed rust on the petal edge. Below the beard is a large shaded lavender wash, deeper in the center. The petal edges are then banded in lemon. Nicely formed and ruffled flowers are carried on strong stems. Sdlg. Musky fragrance. The quest for a TB with blue standards and pink falls has been a long and frustrating road for many hybridizers. Along the way there are beautiful seedlings worthy of introduction, and this is one of those. Larger flowers are carried on sturdy stalks. Notice the peach pink styles peering from between violet-blue standards. Standards are a blended light blue-violet and pink. Sweet fragrance. Larger flowers have loads of color and carrying power. Expansive wide falls boost its garden presence. Mango to orange standards rise above falls that are light buff around the beard, with a red-plum haft and wash that transitions to a solid wide mango band. Sweet fragrance. Bountiful ruffles give a bubbly presence to these handsome dark flowers. Larger flowers on well-branched stalks make quite a sight in the garden. Cool beards are big and bushy, with a purple base with orange tips in the throat and center, and purple with white frosted tips at the end. Sldg. Spicy fragrance. At first glance, Hidden Feature appears to be a glaciata, but don’t be deceived. The sun-sensitive anthocyanin (blue/purple pigment) on the fall reverse is activated by exposure to the sun. It is the reason for the irregular application from petal to petal. Intriguing and unusual, but not a rare occurrence. The pattern is called “celestar”. Larger flowers boldly call from a long distance. Sdlg. Standards are a medium yellow with a darker edge. Falls are a very light yellow with deep lemon yellow hafts. A wide ruffled deep maroon band frames the pattern. It is hard to capture the true grandeur of Boxing Ring in a photo. The flowers are very large and widely formed with great ruffles. It creates a very dramatic look in the garden. Much admired by garden visitors, it is a gorgeous iris that will not be overlooked.
