Sweet fragrance. Deep lemon-yellow standards with a lighter edge. Falls are a rust to burgundy with a white rayed pattern extending out from around the beard. The falls are then banded with a wide lemon border and then etched by a thin red line. This Is Crazy is breathtakingly beautiful in clump. Sweet fragrance. Deep plum standards and band on blue lavender falls. There is also a brown rayed patch on either side of the beard. Speaking of the beard, it is humongous!! The flowers are large and ruffled and the beard just draws you in. A very fun and beautiful iris. Sdlg. TI155D: Sweet Talker sib.

TROPICAL TEASE (T. Johnson ’23)

Sweet fragrance. Cream standards with dark pink centers and golden orange edging. Falls are creamy white with deep orange hafts and edge. The flowers are heavily ruffled and ever so slightly laced. A very pretty iris for later in the season. Sdlg. TK107C: Stage Fright sib.

UNDER PRESSURE (T. Johnson ’23)

Sweet fragrance. Under Pressure is another iris that was labeled as an intro from maiden bloom. It never ceases to perform and has good stems and buds as well. Bright yellow standards. The falls are a bit complicated. There is a yellow sunburst in the center that is bordered with a diffused wash of red violet. Then the violet transitions to lavender and finally a very light yellow rim with a violet wire edge. Sdlg. TK170C: Dare To Be Different and This Is Crazy sib.

Slight sweet fragrance. I have a bit of a love for orange amoenas and this one is no exception! Standards are cream with orange centers. Falls are a rich orange with deep red-orange beards. Sweet fragrance. Standards are pink with a flesh pink band and a gold edge. Falls are a rich plum violet with tangerine beards. This is a late variety. It is in full flower when pretty much everything else has finished. A very strong grower and increaser and floriferous, covering itself in bloom. Sdlg. TK1ZZ: Love You So sib.

Sweet fragrance. Standards are lavender with gold veining though out and a gold edge. Falls are white with a lilac and rose dotted band and a blue dart below the beard. Slight sweet fragrance. Pure white with a large blue signal around the beard. Orange beards. A totally unique breakthrough color and pattern in this class. Lightly fragrant. More coral than pink, this self reminds me of the coral jewelry you can obtain in Hawaii. The color always stops me in the garden because of its intensity. The coral-pink is a little creamy around the beards. Beards are coral, lightening to peach at the upturned tip. Flowers are ruffled with slightly crimped edges. Slight fragrance. This iris has fascinated me since its maiden bloom. The pattern is different especially for a horned variety. Standards and styles are a medium coral pink. Flaring falls are like a zebra. Is it medium orchid violet with pink veins or deep pink with medium orchid violet veins? The falls also have a defined narrow band of pink-orchid. Light fragrance. Not just another plicata! Standards are mostly solid rich maroon with slight undertones of apricot in the center. The lacey edges of the very dark apricot styles are trimmed in maroon. Flaring falls have apricot-peach ground bordered by a solid maroon edge that turns to dots as it extends from the burnt dark orange beards. 9 to 10 buds on well branched stalks. MONET PAINTING (L. Miller ’23)

Light sweet fragrance. The markings and color of this iris remind me of a fine Monet painting. Standards are bordered dark apricot diffusing to medium plum purple in the center. The dark apricot styles are tinted purple and are fringed. Falls have wide borders of plum purple that streaks into the medium apricot center. Extending from the dark tangerine beards are plum purple belly stripes. Great stalks with three branches support 9-13 buds. 5217A: Hot Wired sib.

Slight sweet fragrance. As I work toward pink ground plicatas interesting combos are happening. The standards of Perky Lass are light pinkish salmon, lightly washed light violet. Falls are pinkish-salmon bordered with heavy maroon dotting, heaviest beside striking dark tangerine beards. 7 to 8 buds are held on show stalks. Sdlg. 5817C: 9813A, Lost cross X Powder Keg.

Light fragrance. A difficult to describe shade of orange. A blend of coral, peach, and orange depending on the lighting. Crisp, nicely ruffled flowers with flaring falls are well placed on strong stalks. The deep coral orange beards are completed by the upturned horns.
