It was tagged for introduction from its maiden bloom. Saying it is unique is a vast understatement. It is the best formed of all the pink SDBs. Color has great depth and richness. Its one flaw is some flowers have a 4th standard. It is a big advancement in my project to create SDBs that bloom into TB season. It begins bloom in early TB season. How cool to have a SDB for a TB timed show. The cross that created it, an IB X IB, shouldn’t have been fertile but it did have viable seed. Even more amazing, ‘Portland Pink’ is fertile. It can be picky about its partner but can have anywhere from a few to normal numbers of seed and they germinate. Shorty, the pod parent, is from a pink tetraploid MTB seedling X my SDB, ‘Juicy Tidbit’. The pollen parent is a multi-branched & budded IB from a small flowered TB, ‘Inspired’ sib X my SDB, ‘Love Spell’. Growth is strong and increase rapid. Although it is from 2 IBs, it has never exceeded SDB height. What about using it in hybridizing? Go on, have your way with it. It is fertile with SDBs, IBs, tet MTBs, BBs and TBs. I haven’t tried MDBs. Expect wide variation in flower and plant size of seedlings.

Medium lemon yellow standards with rosy pink infused centers. Falls are a very deep maroon with a lavender pink diffused band that blends to a light lemon pink band. Big wide and ruffled blooms on show stems will stop you dead in your tracks. OOh la la!!

From your first look, she’ll have you wound around her little finger. Shimmering light pink flowers are washed darker true pink, no peach tones at all. Intriguing light green veins ascend the standards midribs and web out over the falls. Mid pink styles stand behind darker pink beards. Strong growing clumps are filled with stalks.

Pink standards; falls are medium rosy pink in the center forming a deeper rosy pink blended band. Beautifully ruffled and even lightly laced petal edges on well-formed flowers carried on good stalks. Strawberry Bliss is a good grower and makes a beautiful clump. The flowers do fade with age but are still very lovely. Large shrimp pink beards certainly add to the attraction. One that has been much admired. Beautiful!!

Lavender pink standards with a deeper lavender wash in the center. Falls are a smooth rich lavender blue violet with a deeper lavender blue patch below the beard. Beards are a salmon pink with lavender tips. Slightly smaller, tight, well-formed and ruffled blooms on show stems make Stuck on You a later season blooming sensation.

There are plenty of ruffles on this smooth bicolor. Smoky pink standards are heavily infused royal purple. Very wide and ruffed falls are velvety deep royal purple with a lighter band. Strong stalks carry 8 to 11 buds.

You can take your pick from all the diverse personalities of ‘Take Your Pick’. Standards are dark purple and styles a bit darker. Light pink ground falls may have anywhere from a dark purple plicata band to purple almost completely covering the falls. Markings can vary from flower to flower on the same plant. All are beautiful. Rosy pink plicata standards. Rosy red plicata falls with lighter clear salmon area on either side of brilliant red beards. Lovely ruffled solid pink syles show brightly in the heart of the flower. Three buds on strong plants. We like this one a lot.

Coming out of my lined pattern breeding, THUNDERING APPLAUSE pushes the pattern a step further. We are finally getting wide ruffled and even slightly laced form. Creamy white standards are infused peach pink. Falls have a light lemon base that is overlaid with violet lines radiating from the heart of the flower and becoming more of a wash near the edge. Then the whole pattern is framed by a nice lemon-yellow band. Tangerine beards help to compliment the pattern. Super strong growth on floriferous clumps.

Sweet fragrance. We look forward to TIMELESS TREASURE to bloom each year. It always puts on such a show. Moderately sized more tailored flowers are borne in profusion with a more open clump effect. This allows the viewing of each individual flower yet still giving a visual mass of color. A unique and bright color with pink Standards over lavender falls with a deeper lavender waterfall pattern that extends from the beard to a pink fall border. We Like!!

Lovely coral to peach pink standards. Falls are a pretty lavender pink with deeper coral hafts and a lighter area below nice shrimp pink beards. Beautiful form on nicely ruffled flowers. A very elegant a yummy color. A later flowering variety with nice show stems. Classy!

Apart from its excellent production of show stems, this lovely Iris should really charm the judges. The standards are white with a faint flush of soft pink at the midribs. The falls are wide and lightly ruffled and pastel peach over cream. Some light tan veining radiating from the hafts. Very fertile. Organza, its pod parent is proving to be a super parent.

Standards are flesh pink with peach edges. Falls are flushed slightly lighter flesh pink with a wide blended peach band. Beards are kind of a strange mango peach. A very different and very pretty color combination.

Cream to flesh pink standards that are heavily infused antique to rose pink in centers. Falls are deeper flamingo to rose pink with tangerine beards. Nicely formed and ruffled flowers are carried on show stems with 11 buds early in the season. Coming out of a cross made with two Blyth seedlings. Very nice!
