Its bold colors pronounce to the world, “I’m here!” Clear, mid yellow, exuberantly ruffled standards are circled by creamy yellow margins. Here’s another in the limited realm of the strange broken color plicatas. Each flower is patterned differently. Typically marked standards have a light buttercream ground with a dark charcoal-purple wide rib, heavily plicata-sanded center, and wide band. White falls have light yellow variably-sized hafts, irregular broken color segments of wine to purple dotting and sanding, and a narrow dark wine plicata band. Sdlg. AT LAST MY LOVE (Paul Black 26)
SDB Late-very late 14.5” (37cm) Pronounced sweet fragrance.
For those wanting a SDB to enter in a typical TB show, here is another one of my multiple branched and budded, late blooming SDBs that fits the bill. Light rose infuses up the midribs of the mid lilac standards. Falls are mid red-violet, blending lighter to their edge. Big orange beards are sandwiched between white hafts veined dark plum. Icy blue white standards have lemon bases and a gold halo. Falls are white with a blue band and lemon hafts. Beards are more yellow than orange, giving the flower brightness and light. Best of all are the plant habits. Vigorous plants cover themselves with an abundance of tall, well-branched stems, creating an amazing floral display. Creamy white standards have deep lemon-yellow centers. Falls are an extremely plush deep burgundy black, with a lavender purple band and yellow on the back of the falls, which shows especially where the petal ruffles. Medium pink standards rise above very light creamy white falls with a slight pink flush and deeper pink hafts. A wide and pronounced violet blue band frames the fall and brings the whole iris to life. Really good, tall, multi-budded show stems make one stop in their tracks. Slate white standards have a blue flush in the center. Falls are a gorgeous slate lavender blue with a lighter wash area around the blueish white beard. There is also a slightly darker lavender rim on the falls. Undeniable was named for obvious reasons; there was never any doubt that it was going to be released. It has beautiful form on tall, well-branched and balanced stems, and is a very strong grower that blooms and blooms from early to late in the iris bloom season. WALTZ RIGHT IN (Thomas Johnson ’26)

Standards are medium lavender with darker lavender dotting in the center. Falls are pristine white with a deep purple to near black haft. There is a purple dotted band, followed by a solid deep violet to near black band with a lighter pencil edge. It is stunning and bold, just like someone who would “waltz right in”. WATCH THAT SCENE (Thomas Johnson ’26)

Deep golden yellow standards rise above yellow ground falls overlaid with a deep mahogany red haft and striped edge. The yellow ground on the fall extends out between the mahogany to create a rayed effect. There is a large lavender area below the orange beard. Quite a busy and dramatic flower. Sdlg.
