Beards are a lovely violet blue with just a brushing of orange at the hair tips, giving a very pretty effect. TB Midseason-late 37” (94cm Slight fragrance. I have literally been in love with this seedling for a number of years and now have enough to share. Once again proving the value of Slice Of Heaven as a parent. Deep pink standards and edge on white falls with beautiful coral pink beards with a frosted pink end. Wonderful form and branching on strong stems. Found A Love, like its sister, As You Wish, from last year, is a very prolific bloomer and strong grower. I can’t say enough good things about this iris. Sweet fragrance. Ooh la la is what I say each year when this one starts to flower. Impeccable wide and ruffled form. Not really sure whether to call this a bicolor or a blend. Whatever it is, we like it very much, and we love to hybridize with it. Blended golden orange and salmon standards swirl elegantly above light rosy lavender falls with a peach wash, deeper at the hafts, and lighter as it moves down the petal. Oh, and did we mention it is ruffled? This was a very productive cross and has yielded many intros including last year’s Head Of The Class and Refined Elegance. Sdlg. Sweet fragrance. Amply ruffled flowers are displayed on superbly branched show stalks. Strong growing, disease resistant foliage makes Ripples In Time a good landscape plant. Three branches and a spur provide 10-11 buds. Its lovely pastel color is a perfect foil for darker colors. Standards are lemon with gold centers. This one is a bit hard to describe. Standards are a lovely blended lavender with medium burnt orange centers transitioning to orange veins as they move toward the edge. Falls are a complex blend of colors that appear as a deep burnt orange to red creating a very lovely and distinctive color. Great branching and stems carry well-formed flowers that are a true delight. Coming from the beautifully colored and formed Shockaholic. Challenge Accepted is a nice advancement in this color pattern.

Quite an intensely colored iris. Standards are solid deep oxblood red. Falls are cream with a lemon wash on either side of the beard extending down to the wide red dotted band. Very showy in the fields this last year, making quite a statement at the end of its row.

In the continuing quest for that perfectly clean pink amoena comes Love You More. White standards are flushed pink in the centers. Falls are a gorgeous shade of pink, with deeper texture veins. It is a really lovely color combination that is stunning in the fields. Classically formed flowers are held on nicely branched and budded stems. Really gorgeous.

Very light lemon to cream standards have darker lemon centers. Falls are a deep red violet with a small yellow area around the beard. There is a bit of bluish violet blending below the beard, and a wide heavily ruffled and blended yellow band. Never Ending Story has gorgeous classical form with heavy ruffles on nice stems. A really lovely iris!

Mauve pink standards rise above mauve and lavender pink blended falls with lighter centers. There is texture veining that juts out from around the deep lavender purple beard. Gorgeous ruffled and wide form showcases the pattern. Nice stems and buds as well. Quite a striking iris.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME (Thomas Johnson ’26)

The name was inspired by our young iris enthusiast friend Dylan Just. If you have ever seen his lively inspiring iris videos, you will certainly recognize the phrase “are you kidding me” as his signature punchline. It is a very fitting name, and very descriptive of the way I myself felt the year it first bloomed. It comes from the line of unique iris that have been coined the ‘pansy face’ pattern. I love everything about this iris, from its lavender standards with maroon base, to its wide and ruffled falls with deep maroon central overlay. WOVEN TAPESTRY (Thomas Johnson ’26)

Standards are the faintest of oyster blue with violet and pink washed centers. Falls are rich mauve, with a deep reddish purple washed central fall spot. Beards are burnt orange. Deep black cherry to black standards show a slight bit of yellow ground in the center. Falls have a white ground with a lemon-yellow wash that is dotted deep black cherry, with a dark bar around the beard and line below the beard. The fall then has a wide black cherry band. EYE LOVE YOU (Thomas Johnson ’26)

I have been working on the ‘pansy face’ pattern, or you could say ‘signal’ pattern, in TBs for quite a few years. Trying to get different colors in the pattern has been fun. Eye Love You has a lot going on in the color department. Standards are flesh to peach, with large pink centers and a lavender infusion up the midrib. Falls are light lavender with a deep maroon signal, and upon closer inspection, there is a very faint lighter peach band. The orange beard sitting on top of the maroon signal just makes the whole thing pop. It certainly makes for a brilliant display in the fields, and won’t be mistaken for any other iris. Sdlg.
