Sweet fragrance. Orange Standards are a bit lighter and with some gold influence at the edges. Falls are Yellow-orange with a white spot below the brilliant tangerine-red beard. Light sweet fragrance. Standards are medium pink in the center, then becoming white with pink veins and finally forming a pink rim. Falls are white with a rose-pink band and a white tipped orange beard. Just Between Us is lovely in every way. The ruffled form is beautiful, it is a good grower and has nicely branched stems. Light fragrance Peach-pink Standards. Falls are white with peach hafts and edge. Beards are tangerine with lavender-white at the end. The emphasis here is ruffles and more ruffles! The standards are extremely ruffled, creating a very feathery display. If you like ruffles you know there is “never enough”! Sweet fragrance. Standards are the darkest red violet with a very light rose edge. Falls are an intense shade of black mulberry with a thin light margin of light rose. There is just a touch of orange on either side of the white luminata patch. On The Cover is a very dark luminata but to the red tones of purple black where as many other dark luminatas currently on the market are to the blue tones of black. A little shorter in stature than some of the others but she certainly packs a lot of punch securing her place on the cover of the catalogue this year. Sdlg. TK22A: sister to last years intro

SECRET CHORD (T. Johnson ’23)

Light fragrance. The color of Secret Chord is hard to describe but here we go. Standards have a brassy gold base then they are washed and dotted mulberry in the center finally forming a brass band. Falls are creamy white with deep violet on either side of, (and forming a dart just below), the beard. There is a deep mulberry red fall band with purple violet dots inside the band. All in all it makes for a very startling color combo. Combine all that with wide heavily ruffled form and you have a grand garden iris. We have used Secret Chord heavily in our breeding program. SHIVERS (T. Johnson ’23) TB Midseason 37” (94cm) Sweet fragrance. Wow, just wow is what I say each time I see this one in flower. Nearest attempt yet to a black amoena that we have seen. Icy blue white standards have a gilt gold edge and the visible style crests are also etched in gold. Falls are about a dark a black purple as there is. Beards are a burnt orange. STAY IN LINE (T. Johnson ’23)

Light fragrance. White standards have a heavy peach pink washed center. Falls are Light orange with violet lines radiating out from below the beard. There is a wide orange band at the petal edge and within the band in the center is a large concentration of violet dots. Finally, we are starting to combine the dots and speckles pattern in a more controlled fashion instead of just random. It is also exciting to get some different colors going in the lined pattern. Sweet fragrance. Deep plum standards and band on blue lavender falls. There is also a brown rayed patch on either side of the beard. Speaking of the beard, it is humongous!! Light fragrance. Not just another plicata! Standards are mostly solid rich maroon with slight undertones of apricot in the center. The lacey edges of the very dark apricot styles are trimmed in maroon. Flaring falls have apricot-peach ground bordered by a solid maroon edge that turns to dots as it extends from the burnt dark orange beards. 9 to 10 buds on well branched stalks. Pronounced musky fragrance I think without a doubt this is the finest of the black and white plicata IBs. Centers of iridescent purple-black standards reveal just a bit of white plic ground. Slight fragrance. Medium pink standards. White falls are flushed pink, becoming deeper at the edges. Beards are a lovely violet blue with just a brushing of orange at the hair tips, giving a very pretty effect. Standards are a very light creamy yellow with a deep golden yellow center. Falls are creamy white with a nice lavender to violet band. The hafts are also touched a bit with lemon. This strong grower has excellent form and stems with lots of buds. It has been used extensively in hybridizing and has proven to be a quality parent. A standout iris!

Brilliant orange standards are flushed purple in the center. Falls are orange with deeper orange hafts and violet veins that become a dotted wash just prior to the orange edge. The colors are brilliant neon on super wide petals, creating an intensity that is amazing.

Standards are medium lavender-purple with slightly deeper centers. Falls are lavender-purple with a deep intense oxblood red area around and just below the brownish beard. Amazing color!
