This iris is a very complex mix of colors and is hard to describe. I think it is best to just look at the picture. The name Coat of Many Colors seems to fit it well. Nicely branched stems and good bud count combined with lovely ruffled form make it a winner for sure. On top of all of that it is a hybridizers dream, giving some of the most awesome patterns in the seedling patch this past season. Coat of Many Colors is the product of two Barry Blyth seedlings. Recommended!!

It’s not only colorful but also has a zingy pattern. Mid yellow color of standards and styles repeats in the fall hafts. Irregular yellow veins continue over center of white falls changing to mid red violet veins inside wide brassy auburn bands. Light marigold beards are a nice complement. All petals are amply ruffled. Stalks have 3 branches and 8-9 buds. Mild sweet fragrance.

Flesh Pink Standards and sunburst pattern on falls around deep orange beards. Falls are banded with purple. 7 to 9 buds on strong stems. On the shorter side so works well in open spaces where wind is a concerned. Nice bright color on an easy grower.

‘Crashing Whitecaps’ is a superior iris in all respects. You’ll be glad you have it in your garden when you see its clump filled with show stalks standing tall among robust clean foliage. Cool white standards and styles color is repeated across the hafts on mid violet blue falls. Mid orange beards vie for attention. Stalks have 3 branches plus spur and 9-11 buds. A sure show winner. Sweet grape fragrance.

Curve Ball is all about the beard. Lemon yellow standards; falls are white ground w/ a lemon overlay transitioning to a wide dark violet band. Very large tang. beards extend longer than usual down the fall. 7 buds on good stalks. Form is a bit funky but add to the appeal.

Clear medium yellow Standards and slight haft on light lavender falls. Falls are blended heavier lavender below the beard. Petal edges are rimmed with a narrow yellow edge. Wonderful form on nice stems Carrying 10 buds. A very good strong garden iris for the late season. Quality!

The lush velvety purple black falls will draw you in for a closer look. You’ll then notice the mid purple standard’s color repeats in a narrow fall band. Look inside and you’ll see sparkling white styles with center ridge and crest of mid lilac. It is entrancing. As with others of this type, there are loads of branching and buds to insure a long bloom season.

Gold standards with slight violet line up the midrib. Falls are lavender purple with deep gold thumbprints on either side of brilliant tangerine beards. A brown band around the falls brings the whole pattern to life. Wide overlapping falls, an easy grower and very floriferous, Diamond Heart is a welcome addition to the early season.

Deep grape purple standards. Falls are grape purple with deep purple black lines and a wide grape purple band. Deep brown and grape purple blended beards. Nicely ruffled flowers on good stems. A truly unique creation with a very clean and mysterious look. I love it, and hope you will too.

Well constructed flowers are lavishly ruffled and laced. Standards are clear mid pink. Wide milk glass white falls have pink hafts and edge. Unusual beards are half tangerine and half lilac. Strong stalks have up to 9 buds. You won’t have any trouble believing how beautiful it is. Should be a beneficial parent in working for blue or violet beards on pinks.

Standards mustard to lemon yellow. Falls are a rich medium mauve to violet with a lighter brownish fall edge. Hafts are touched yellow to brown on either side of russet beards. An iris that is a bit difficult to photograph. Super form and ruffles on well branched and budded show stalks. A favorite and tagged for introduction from its maiden bloom. Recommended!!

Very light oyster pink standards with slight violet flush up the midrib. Falls are a rich, smooth and plush deep velvety purple black with narrow light lavender fall rim. Beards are a bronze color tipped violet. Wonderful strong growth with loads of buds on nice stems. Very floriferous and bold. This sweetly scented garden beauty makes a dramatic statement. Very nice!!

The color range of tetraploid MTBs keeps expanding at a fast pace. ‘Fairy King’ does its part to keep pushing it forward. White standards are washed butter and edged and veined darker. Mid yellow styles peer from between them. Dark red plum falls blend inward to dark red violet then to near black centers. Darker veins underlay the entire fall. Bountiful branching and buds insure a long bloom season.

A hard iris to describe but here goes. Burnt orange to salmon blended Standards are shot violet in the center. Falls have a cream and salmon ground overlaid with a deep black cherry plicata bar across the hafts and band around edge. Burnt orange to brown beards. Strong well branched stems carry up to 11 buds. A very showy garden favorite! We like!!

A new era of brightly colored, wider and more ruffled tetraploid MTBs is emerging from mixed chromosome breeding. This parentage includes SDBs, IBs, tet MTBs, BBs and TBs. The SDB pollen parent, ‘April Fanfare’, can have 2 branches and 6 buds which helps make it an excellent tet MTB parent. This bright bicolor has unique peach styles and the pattern is pumila spot plicata. ‘FLIRTIN’ SKIRTS’ will make a memorable clump. Can be used in breeding in all median classes and TBs. I’m using it to hopefully produce pumila spot plics in TBs.
