Slight sweet fragrance. This cross is another that yielded many quality seedlings from which choices had to be made as to what goes and what stays. Big broad and heavily ruffled flowers are presented on strong show stalks. Standards have wide purple black plicata bands and only centers show their white ground. Styles are near black. Super wide falls are warm white shaded buff over hafts. Dark purple plicata bands encircle the falls and unusual waxy black chevrons surround rich dark black-brown beards. Strong show stalks have 3 branches and spur to show of 10-12 buds. A must have.

Pronounced spicy fragrance. If broken colored sorts are your proclivity, ‘Too Mixed Up’ should be on your must have list. Flowers are the ultimate in ruffled form but buds are bit lacking at 6-7. Standards are silvery white with random dashes, segments and slashes of violet to red violet. Falls are the same except rosy peach hafts. Two colored beards have tangerine throats ending in light lavender. Vigorous growth.

Sweet fragrance. Clear pink standards. Falls are lavender pink with pink touched hafts and shrimp beards. Very large and full wide flowers on perfect show stems. This is a color combination I am a bit of a sucker for. Brilliant bright yellow standards that are exceptionally clean are held over light to medium lavender falls. The falls have deeper texture veins that run the length of the petals and the hafts are touched yellow. Strong stems on large classically formed flowers. Sweet fragrance. White ground standards are almost completely overlaid gold. The midrib is flushed violet. Falls are white with a deep velvet red band. There is medium red violet dotted band inside the darker band. Nicely ruffled flowers on a very bright and pleasing color combination. A nice classically ruffled form completes the look. Sdlg. Sweet fragrance. Icy white standards are infused light violet and pink at the midrib. Falls are lavender-blue violet with a lighter lavender edge. What brings life to Distant Shores is the pink in the base of the standards. It draws your eye in for a closer inspection of the frosted blue violet beard. Sweet fragrance. Flesh pink standards have medium lavender shot up the midribs and light lemon touched petal edges. Falls are a very rich lavender violet with a lighter edge. Sweet fragrance. Golden orange standards tower over deep old rose falls with a large central blue violet wash. Hafts are touched gold on either side of burnt orange beards. Sweet fragrance. Standards are marine blue violet with a white band. Falls are a deep rich blue violet with a white edge and striping on the sides. There is a large white luminata patch around the beard and a short white dart below the beard. The hafts are touched orange which helps to draw the eye into the flower. Light sweet fragrance. Golden yellow standards. Falls are a rich burgundy red with a lavender band and then a gilt lemon edge. Very large well-formed flowers with gorgeous wide ruffles creates quite a stir in the fields. An exceptionally clean color and pattern. Coming from two excellent parents. We like this one a lot. Sweetly scented. Light to medium pink standards. Falls are cream with a pink blended overlay and with a medium lilac band. Large flowers with wide overlapping form and pleated ruffles put on a dazzling display. Absolutely impressive in clump! Nice stems and branching as well. Sdlg. Light sweet fragrance. Pink Standards and hafts over medium lavender falls. Huge blocky flowers with excellent form are carried on show stems. Check out the differing shots of it on the website. The color can be quite different with lighting, different days or even different years. Generally, the more overcast and cooler that it is the darker the color. Sweet fragrance. Medium flesh pink standards. Falls are medium rose lilac with a white spray pattern around and extending below the red-orange beard. SHIVERS (T. Johnson ’23) TB Midseason 37” (94cm) Sweet fragrance. Wow, just wow is what I say each time I see this one in flower. Nearest attempt yet to a black amoena that we have seen. Icy blue white standards have a gilt gold edge and the visible style crests are also etched in gold. Falls are about a dark a black purple as there is. Beards are a burnt orange. Lightly fragrant. More coral than pink, this self reminds me of the coral jewelry you can obtain in Hawaii. The color always stops me in the garden because of its intensity. The coral-pink is a little creamy around the beards. Beards are coral, lightening to peach at the upturned tip. Flowers are ruffled with slightly crimped edges.
