Slight spicy fragrance Descendants of ‘Delectable Treat’ have great substance. This is one of them. It takes 4 or 5 days for the flowers to open and expand. This cross gave a wide range of unique colors and patterns and most having superior branching and buds. Standards and styles are mid greenish yellow. Hafts of greenish cream falls are veined mid rosy brown changing to solid edgings along upper half. Dark pumpkin beards add a bit of warmth. ALL LINED UP (T. Johnson ’24)

Light fragrance. Creamy standards have pink centers and a gilt lemon edge. Falls are yellow with red violet lines extending from the beard to near the petal edge. The lines become a series of dots just before it becomes a yellow edge. A different color for the lined pattern. Nice stems and large well-formed and ruffled flowers. Unique. Sdlg. GARDEN APPEAL (Black ’24)

Sweet fragrance. This smaller flowered tall bearded beauty traces back to ‘Passionate Embrace’ and the unusually colored flowers it produces, particularly in the citrus colors. Its myriads of show stalks cover the clumps in bloom. The white fall bands make it pop. Contrasting style arms are characteristic of ‘Passionate Embrace’ offspring, as are unique colors and show branched stalks. Sdlg. Standards are light lavender, with muted gold in the center and edge. Falls are white with deep violet lines extending from the beard then becoming a wash as the pattern blends into a violet band. Complexity has very wide and billowing form in a unique color.

Here is another of the fantastic Crocodile Smile offspring with unique lined falls in various colors that I’ve been anxious to introduce. White standards have wide almost solid dark purple plicata bands and heavily stitched and sanded centers. White falls have intermittent lines over their centers and a solid center stripe. The number and length of lines is variable. I can’t wait to see more of its kids. Three branches and 8-9 buds is typical.

TYRANNOSIRIS REX (P. Black '25)
TB Midseason-late 33” (84cm) Slight sweet fragrance.
Well, maybe it isn’t quite as large as Tyrannosaurus Rex, but it is big and exuberantly ruffled. The standards have a small grayed light-yellow center that blends to light pewter, then to a wide light grayed brown band. Expansive falls are mid grayed yellow with mahogany hafts blended lighter to their edge. Mid old gold beards end in a short, wide, slate violet stripe. Unique it is! Excellent plant habits help create memorable clumps filled with show stalks.

Flowers are a riot of colors and patterning from near red to maroon to indigo, in various overlays and blendings. All of this is further accented with large marigold beards. Well branched stalks have 3 branches plus spur and 9-10 buds. Unique!

RUNNING LATE (Paul Black 26)
SDB Late-very late 15” (38cm) Pronounced sweet fragrance.
I keep working on pushing SDB bloom further and further into TB season. Running Late hits that mark by blooming with midseason TBs. Tightly formed flowers have pale pinkish white standards, contrasting with strongly flared dark purple falls, blending paler to edges. Hazy white darts surround unique burnt orange to violet beards. SUNSHINE BLUES (Thomas Johnson ’26)
SDB Midseason-late 14” (35.5cm) Light fragrance.
White ground petals have a lemon plicata overlay on both standards and falls. There are also a few faint lilac plicata dots throughout the flower. A very large deep blue beard certainly makes the whole flower pop. A unique pattern and color combination. Sdlg. TO75D: Believe X Cheers To You

UNDERSTATEMENT (Thomas Johnson ’26)
TB Midseason-late 40” (101.5cm) Slight sweet fragrance.
Solid pink standards have a gold edge. Falls are complex for sure. The ground color is a medium lavender with a creamy white area below the beard. The ground is then overlaid with a deep violet wash that clears and becomes a soft lavender pink band with a violet wire rim. Really a unique and stunning color confection.
