Elegant it is. Prominent midribs of heavily ruffled white standards are flushed pink and blended outward. Hafts and edges of chalky white falls are touched pink. Strong show stalks insure it a place on the “Queen’s Court”. Fast increase and free bloom insure there’ll be plenty of them.

I have been working on the blue bearded pink iris pattern for quite a few years. The biggest challenge is to keep the blue beard and get the petals a more true pink and less lavender pink. I am quite happy with Eyes of an Angel. Beautiful pink standards and edge on white falls with frosted powder blue beards. Wonderful wide and ruffled flowers on good stems. A knockout in person and a must for the lover of blue bearded pinks.

Fine Romance has just enough blue in its makeup to appear visually a very clean and clear pink in the garden. Crinkled lace adorns each petal. Beards are soft coral with just a touch of lilac at their ends. SHOW STALKS AND GORGEOUS!! Vigorous growth.

On the shorter side, GIRL LIKE YOU is a very ruffled and lightly laced rich salmon to orange self with a small white flash below fully saturated red orange beards. Nicely branched show stems are produced in profusion making quite a lovely garden show near the end of the season. Very rich and pretty!!

Heavily ruffled standards are brilliant sunshine yellow. Fall centers are light violet with wide, shaded center elipse of dark violet. Mid yellow gold haft’s color continues in pleated ruffles around falls. Beards are dark marigold. Expect about seven of these showy creations per stalk. Growth is strong, vigorous and clean. Makes a fantastic clump.

Deep rose to salmon pink Standards over white falls flushed lavender pink deepening towards the edges. Deeper pink hafts and very large frosted powder blue beards are what really make this one special. Nicely ruffled and lightly laced on strong stems.

Having had the opportunity to flower many thousands of plicatas over the years and seen many more in other seedling patches, this stands out for me as being very memorable. The standards are white, lightly veined light violet over most of the area, shading deeper at midribs and towards the base. The falls are white with a 1/4” stitched edge of near solid mid violet. The really striking parts of this flower are the hafts and style crests. The hafts are near black, heavily shaded brown, spreading out on the falls to the ends of the beards. Beards are white, heavily tipped violet-brown. Show branching and should win at a late show. Good parent, though not easy.

JUST YOU AND ME (T. Johnson ’21)

Standards are a blended pink with peach gold bands. Falls are white with a narrow light peach band. There is a slight medium peach touched haft area on either side of large powder blue beards. Wonderful wide and ruffled and even slightly laced flowers are carried on gorgeous show stems. A fantastic way to close the season. A very much admired, elegant beauty!!

Very pale blue white standards and edge on falls that are overlaid with med. Lavender blue. Falls have central violet blue lines radiating out from around blue tipped orange beard. Beautiful form and ruffles on well branched stalks carrying up to 9 buds. Very classy looking and much admired by visitors.

This came from a cross made in Keith Keppel’s garden in Oregon by me using an American Iris as pod parent and pollen parent is from a Keppel cross made in Australia from Australian varieties and seed sent back to US and raised by Keith Keppel. The seedling which was to become Magic in Me was raised and selected in Australia and was returned to America for naming and introduction, a complete international effort! Standards are creamy lemon, faintly flushed lavender at midribs. The falls are lavender-violet with blended tan around the edges and hafts. Beards are prominent burnt tangerine. An elegant Iris that grows easily and flowers in profusion.

Cocoa pink S with darker pink veining. Falls are deeper cocoa pink with darker veining and a light cocoa pink edge. What really makes this one stand out are the large Cocoa pink beards that are frosted white on the tips. A nicely ruffled uniquely colored creation. Very distinctive and pretty.

Many lovely BBs are coming from tetraploid MTB, SDB and IB breeding and this is one with exceptional quality. Ruffled, classically formed blooms are rose mulberry bitone with buff area around tangerine beards. Strong show stalks have 3 branches plus 2 spurs with 12-14 buds. A must have for showing or in the garden.

Ivory standards with a blue cast and a strong deep pink center spot. Falls are light blue, pink and white blend with deep pink hafts and very light powder blue beards. Very wide form helps to show off the deep pink thumbprint hafts. Very distinctive and pretty.

If you need a bold spalsh of color in your garden, ‘Painted Love’ is the iris for you. Mid gold standards are blushed red violet. Wide blue violet falls have Indian red bands and hafts and are paler around deep marigold beards. Nine buds on well branched stalks add to its appeal. Reminds us of an updated version of the old classic ‘Syncopation’.

Sweet fragrance. Paloma Blanca is Spanish for white dove. Icy blue white standards and faint blended edge on white falls. Nice red orange beards are tipped blue white. Beautiful form with good lacing on the petal edges. Super clean grower with strong show stems carrying 8 buds. A very classy iris to close the season.
