One of the shorter TBs this year. Brilliant canary yellow standards rise above medium lavender-mauve falls with a large deep burgundy haft and light yellow band. The extremely wide falls help to enhance the deep haft pattern. Another totally distinctive iris that literally makes me stop and stare when it is in bloom. Steely blue white standards have a deep mustard central spot. Falls are icy white, with light lemon texture veins, and a deep mustard haft. Extremely wide and ruffled flowers bloom in profusion on tall, well branched and budded stems. A very different pattern that calls for closer inspection. Sdlg. BOSS MAN (Lynda Miller ’26)
TB Early-midseason 32” (81.5cm) Light musky fragrance.
He likes to throw his weight around with those huge blossoms on extra strong stalks. Extremely ruffled, the standards are dusky buff pink, infused purple at the midribs, with a purple wire rim. Styles are dark buff pink, striped purple. Falls are purple to black. Beards are purple, tipped coral to buff at the tip. Strong stems carry 8-10 buds. Sdlg. 619E: Ninja Warrior X Haunted Heart

PRETTY MUCH IT (Thomas Johnson ’26)

Plicatas are such an interesting and fun group because of the variability that you can get. In general terms, one would describe this as a purple plicata, but Pretty Much It is so much more than that! Standards are white with a green flush up the midrib. Falls are pristine white, with a narrow stitched violet edge, and then a deeper violet wire rim. Hafts are touched deep red violet, and there is a small violet dart below the beard. Even the beard is a strange blend of orange and white. Upon closer inspection and as the flower ages a bit, the standards open slightly to show the gorgeous contrasting deep gold style crests from inside. The flowers are large and extremely wide and ruffled. Stems are tall, well branched and balanced, and display the beauty of the pattern perfectly. Sdlg. TO163B: Say It Right X Castle On The Hill

Creamy white standards have deep lemon-yellow centers. Falls are an extremely plush deep burgundy black, with a lavender purple band and yellow on the back of the falls, which shows especially where the petal ruffles. WHOLE SHEBANG (Thomas Johnson ’26)
TB Early-midseason 41” (104cm) Slight fragrance.
The lightest of lavender pink standards are medium pink at the center. Falls are cream, with a light pink area around the pinkish coral beard, and a very wide deep purple band. The flowers on Whole Shebang are very large and extremely bright and showy. You won’t miss this one, nor soon forget it either. Stunning, with tall, well branched and budded stems. Sdlg.
