Sweet fragrance. Light lavender violet standards are banded in cream with faint gold veining. Falls are a rich deep red violet with a light lavender edge. Beards are a nice tangerine. Space race is a super strong grower and a fast increaser creating full clumps very quickly. A color pattern that shows from clear across the field. Sdlg. Sweet fragrance. Ooh la la is what I say each year when this one starts to flower. Impeccable wide and ruffled form. Not really sure whether to call this a bicolor or a blend. Whatever it is, we like it very much, and we love to hybridize with it. Blended golden orange and salmon standards swirl elegantly above light rosy lavender falls with a peach wash, deeper at the hafts, and lighter as it moves down the petal. Oh, and did we mention it is ruffled? This was a very productive cross and has yielded many intros including last year’s Head Of The Class and Refined Elegance. Sdlg. Sweet fragrance. Medium rose-pink standards with a lighter rose edge. Falls are a light creamy pink with a deep chocolate band across the haft and orange beards. Slight fragrance. Total surprise indeed is what happened when this one first bloomed. Certainly not what I was expecting, but happy for sure. White standards have a yellow blush to them. Falls are rust to red with a white spray pattern around the beard and a light lavender to white band. Sweet Fragrance. Pink standards over violet falls with lighter pink rays radiating out from around the coral pink beard. A light lavender pink band on the falls frames the picture. Sweet fragrance. Pure white standards. Falls are white with lavender violet stitching across the haft and a short dart below the beard. The falls are edged with light lilac dotting. Standards are very light yellow to white with a darker edge. Falls have a large yellow central sunburst area with a white flash below the beard. There is a very wide deep mahogany red band. The flowers are extremely wide and ruffled with a wild pattern.

High Wire Act is such a beautiful iris, especially in a clump where it really shines, showing off its beautiful gold rim. Standards are cream with very faint gold veining in the center and a violet line up the midrib. The wide ruffled gold band really catches the eye. Falls are white, with a very wide rust red dotted band and white wire rim. A violet line down the center of the petal, from below the beard to the petal’s edge, adds another dimension of intrigue.

WAVE OF PASSION (T. Johnson ’25)
TB Late 36” (91.5cm) Slight sweet fragrance.
Deep golden yellow standards have a wide light yellow band. Falls are a very smooth lavender blue. The petals are so ruffled that the backs of the falls show their yellow color, giving the effect of a yellow band. Exquisitely formed and ruffled flowers make for a dreamy combination. A very beautiful flower for the late season.
