The first of many introductions this year from the wonderful parent Dressed to the Nines. White standards with lemon centers becoming faint veining to petal edge. Falls are a deep rich red violet with a very light lavender band and then a gold edge. The beards are tangerine tipped violet. Very nice ruffled form on fantastic show stems. Break My Heart is a strong bloomer covering itself with flowers. Fabulous!!

Medium lemon yellow standards with rosy pink infused centers. Falls are a very deep maroon with a lavender pink diffused band that blends to a light lemon pink band. Big wide and ruffled blooms on show stems will stop you dead in your tracks. OOh la la!!

Oyster standards with lemon infusions throughout. Falls are a purple and violet blend with a wide light lavender band. Large ruffled and extremely showy blooms make this a very decadent looking confection. Nicely branched and budded. Extremely showy!!

Medium lavender standards are darker at the edge. Falls are a deep lavender purple with a very wide and ruffled medium lavender band. Yellow orange beards are tipped lavender. If you are into the dramatic this certainly fits the bill. Spectacular in clump with an abundance of large ruffled flowers on show stems. Strike a Chord is a sister to Read My Mind and Break My Heart.

WHEN DOVES CRY (T.Johnson ’18)
TB Midseason 36” (91cm)
A lovely clean and ruffled bicolor iris. Standards are icy white with light lemon highlights especially shot up the midrib. Falls are a plush burgundy with nice wide and precise lavender bands and a darker wire rim. Nice orange beards contrast nicely with the plush burgundy falls. A favorite and used a lot in hybridizing.

SHOCKING SECRET (T. Johnson ’22)

Sweet fragrance. Shocking Secret was selected for introduction when I first laid eyes on it. It was in flower in the middle of a 20 row seedling patch. The patch was in full flower and still Shocking Secret stood out among the sea of color, staring at me with its deep signal as if to say “pick me”. Medium orchid to lavender self with pink tones infused in the standards. Falls are the same, only with a large dark black cherry signal that surrounds the orange beards. Nicely branched and budded with good form. Yet another introduction from When Doves Cry, proving to be an excellent parent. To say it is dramatic is an understatement.

TOTAL SURPRISE (T. Johnson ’24)
TB Early-midseason. 37” (94cm)
Slight fragrance. Total surprise indeed is what happened when this one first bloomed. Certainly not what I was expecting, but happy for sure. White standards have a yellow blush to them. Falls are rust to red with a white spray pattern around the beard and a light lavender to white band.
