‘Pussycat Eyes’ is an altogether amazing quarter bred arilbred. Easy growing arilbreds with such strong aril characteristics are rare and even more rare is having 2 branches and at least 7 buds. Palest lilac standards surround yellow styles. Wide, arched falls have big black signals giving way to a dark cherry area and then to mid red purple and finished with a 1/4” tan gold band. Grows easily in average garden conditions.

Yes, it will always be a puzzle as to what the parentage is since the tag was lost. ‘Puzzled’ is such a unique creation that most people won’t care. Standards are buttery peach with orangish texture veins. Wide and ruffled falls are an interesting irregular maroon wash over light lavender ground blending lighter toward edges. Beards are dark orange. Show stalks have ample buds. Growth is strong and increase abundant.

SHARP DRESSED MAN (T.Johnson '10)

He’s tall, dark and handsome and draws the eye of anyone walking by. Only the finest clothes will do for this Sharp Dressed Man. Standards are iridescent mid purple. Elegantly ruffled purple black falls have a velvety texture and slightly lighter rim. Only someone so confident could get by with such an outrageous orange tie. Show stalks with 3-4 branches and 10-12 buds help insure a superior garden performance. Robust, healthy growth. Colors are exceptionally clear.

Sweet fragrance. We look forward to TIMELESS TREASURE to bloom each year. It always puts on such a show. Moderately sized more tailored flowers are borne in profusion with a more open clump effect. This allows the viewing of each individual flower yet still giving a visual mass of color. A unique and bright color with pink Standards over lavender falls with a deeper lavender waterfall pattern that extends from the beard to a pink fall border. We Like!!

Sweet fragrance. Light orange standards; the centers are cream with light violet plicata dotting. Falls have a cream ground that is nearly covered with red violet plicata lines and dots. Super large tangerine beards just glow.

QUIGLEY (Thomas Johnson ’22)

Slight fragrance. I found it quite difficult to capture the unique beauty of Quigley in a photograph. I am still not completely satisfied. The color is more vibrant than the photo shows. It is one of those that I kept coming back to admire and study its unique coloration. Really fun in full clump, sorry I missed getting a good clump shot, but there is so much happening at once in the spring and such little time. Brassy gold standards with a little white ground showing in the centers. Falls have a white ground below the beard then cinnamon dotting and a central belly stripe. A brassy gold band encircles the fall. Very different and unique.

YOU CAN JIVE (T. Johnson ’22)

Sweet fragrance. Canary yellow standards. Falls are light lavender blue below the beard becoming lighter towards the edge. The hafts are touched yellow and there is a light yellow band that surrounds the fall. You Can Jive produces quality show stems with 10 or more buds, grows with strong vigor, and blooms profusely. In fact it puts on such a show that I simply have to stop to admire it each day when it is in flower. Uniqueness can be determined not only by color or pattern but garden performance and this one certainly does that.

Slight fragrance. Happy Place got its name based on its cheery nature. It is just such a happy iris that makes me smile. Brilliant canary yellow self with a white line extending below the large bushy white beards. The falls are slightly darker yellow in the center. Very bright and a favorite. Sdlg. Sweet fragrance. Wow! This is a favorite that I look forward to blooming each year. Such a strange but pretty and intriguing combination of colors. Lightly scented. Light lavender blue standards with medium pink centers. Falls are creamy white with a pink blush throughout. Icy blue white beards add to the beauty. Sweet fragrance. Pink standards are dotted light purple. Falls are white with a violet band and dart below beard. The beard is white with orange and violet tips. The large super wide and ruffled flowers are gorgeous. The combination of the elegant form and the of the pastel colors makes you want to hug the flower. So warm and inviting and one we like a lot.
