I'M BACK sets a new standard for form and color in reblooming irises. Not only will you love seeing it the first time, you'll long for it to return, and it will. Standards are medium lilac with rich dusty rose centers and along upper margins which are covered with a fine network of burgundy veins. Styles are dusty rose with crests veined dark burgundy. Falls are velvety black-cherry with paler rims and adorned with dark root beer beards. Each flower is well-formed and elegantly ruffled.

Oh my, there is ‘So Much More’ lace but look between the styles and there are what appear to be little floating islands of partial styles. It is very unique and rarely occurs. It is a stable and consistent trait. Mid pink standards are banded butter cream. Mid peach styles have lacy butter cream crests. White falls have peach hafts and butter cream laced edges. Stalks have 3 branches with 6-7 buds.

STARDUST EVENING (P. Black '21)

Even before opening, its opalescent silver gray buds are intriguing. As the buds open there is a transformation to dark purple flowers. Dark indigo purple standards are narrowly banded dark red purple as are styles. Wide, ruffled and laced falls are dark indigo purple becoming lighter toward edges and rimmed dark purple. Mixed old gold to brown beards are sandwiched between white hafts heavily veined/sanded black purple. Stalks have 3-4 branches and 7-8 buds. It is an interesting parent.

CANDLELIT EVENING (T. Johnson ’23)

Slight fragrance. Very light yellow to cream standards with a slight pink infusion in the center. Falls have a large violet signal with a wide cream band and yellow area around orange beards. A very striking iris and is a standout in clump. Sdlg. TM209C: Perfect Look X Bug Zoo

EVENING FESTIVAL (T. Johnson ’23)

Sweet fragrance. Light gold standards are infused deeper gold and violet up the midrib. Falls are a wide and ruffled deep plush burgundy to near black. Nicely branched show stems with good buds make it a show bench contender. The double beard in the photo is an anomaly and does not happen as a regular occurrence. Unfortunately with the horrible weather we had this past spring it is the only photo I was able to get. Sdlg. TK81ZZ: Can’t Stop Loving You sib.

EVENING STROLL (T. Johnson ’23)

Sweet fragrance. White ground standards are heavily overlaid deep blue purple with a deep plum to near black band. Falls are white with an inner band of deep blue purple dots and a more solid outer band of deep plum. The beard is an unusual blend with the hairs being blue purple at the base then white and finally yellow at the tips creating quite a complex treat. Evening Stroll has finally broken the link between shorter stature and lower bud count in the deep purple-black plicata lines. Seven to nine buds on tall well branched stalks are the norm. Sdlg. YUMMYLISCIOUS (Black ’24)

No fragrance. This elegant lady is ready to step out on the town. She’ll be a big hit with admirers wanting to devour her. She’ll walk by with poise and grace, taking little notice of them. Softly colored flowers are carried on show stalks and produced by strong growth. Standards are a blended mid pink with a white margin. Falls are white with a pale pink band. Sdlg. VARIATION ON A THEME (P. Black '25)
TB Midseason-late 33” (84cm) Slight musky fragrance.
This theme includes several medians and I. aphylla in the parentage. I’m excited when I can add more diversity in a cross. As I like to say, “More is more.” The blending, shades, and patterning of blue bring to mind the ever-changing skies. Standards are mid-dark blue blending to mid-light blue toward edges. Inky dark blue falls blend to wide light blue bands. Two-toned beards are a fun accent. Moderately sized flowers are carried on three branches having 9-10 buds.

TYRANNOSIRIS REX (P. Black '25)
TB Midseason-late 33” (84cm) Slight sweet fragrance.
Well, maybe it isn’t quite as large as Tyrannosaurus Rex, but it is big and exuberantly ruffled. The standards have a small grayed light-yellow center that blends to light pewter, then to a wide light grayed brown band. Expansive falls are mid grayed yellow with mahogany hafts blended lighter to their edge. Mid old gold beards end in a short, wide, slate violet stripe. Unique it is! Excellent plant habits help create memorable clumps filled with show stalks.
