Sweet fragrance. Pure bright yellow standards. Falls have deep yellow hafts on either side of the beard. The bright yellow on the hafts becomes lighter towards the petal edge. There is a strong dark violet inkblot below the beard that extends to near the petal edge. Ruffled and slightly flared flowers for the late season. A very interesting and striking pattern.

FLYING FREE (T. Johnson ’23)

Sweet fragrance. Standards are an off white with medium violet veins and shades of lemon blending throughout the petal. The lemon is more concentrated in the center and the edge. Falls are a rich lavender violet deepening at the hafts and lightening at the petal edge. Put all this together with fantastic wide bubble ruffles and you have a very showy creation indeed. Sdlg. PROPENSITY (T. Johnson ’23)

Light sweet fragrance. Milky white standards are flushed light lemon in the center and at the petal edges. Falls are a rich lavender violet overlaid with a deep red violet spot that blends out to a light flesh pink edge. I have a bit of a soft spot for this sort of pattern and the application of the color is so good on Propensity. It doesn’t hurt that it has beautiful wide ruffled form on nice stems either. Sdlg. SUAVE AND SOPHISTICATED (T. Johnson ’23)

Sweet fragrance. Standards are a deep golden yellow at the base lightening to a very light yellow at the edge. Falls are a clean mid lavender with a slight yellow blush at the hafts. FUNKY TOWN (Black ’24)

Musky fragrance. Over-the-top color and pattern are its hallmark. Is there room left for anything else? Thirty years ago such things were hardly imaginable. Veined and banded standards rise above falls with contrasting hafts, cascading centers, and a contrasting band. Wow! Add to that well-branched stalks with three branches and a spur with 10-12 buds. DRAMATIC FINALE (T. Johnson ’25)
TB Late-very late 38” (96.5cm) Slight fragrance.
Standards have dark reddish violet centers with a wide blue violet area and then a lighter edge. Falls are the same with deep reddish violet hafts. The flowers on Dramatic Finale are extremely ruffled and a bit flared. Nice stems with good bud count are the norm. Dramatic Finale is very late and is not recommended in hot early climates such as Southern CA or Arizona where it may be susceptible to heat burn. It should be a great variety to close the season in the more northerly gardens.

WAVE OF PASSION (T. Johnson ’25)
TB Late 36” (91.5cm) Slight sweet fragrance.
Deep golden yellow standards have a wide light yellow band. Falls are a very smooth lavender blue. The petals are so ruffled that the backs of the falls show their yellow color, giving the effect of a yellow band. Exquisitely formed and ruffled flowers make for a dreamy combination. A very beautiful flower for the late season.

TYRANNOSIRIS REX (P. Black '25)
TB Midseason-late 33” (84cm) Slight sweet fragrance.
Well, maybe it isn’t quite as large as Tyrannosaurus Rex, but it is big and exuberantly ruffled. The standards have a small grayed light-yellow center that blends to light pewter, then to a wide light grayed brown band. Expansive falls are mid grayed yellow with mahogany hafts blended lighter to their edge. Mid old gold beards end in a short, wide, slate violet stripe. Unique it is! Excellent plant habits help create memorable clumps filled with show stalks.
