One of the first TB iris to flower and a good splash of color to kick off the season. Cream Standards are flushed heavily with peach in the center that transition to faint peach veins extending to the petal edges. Falls are a rich cantaloupe blending to more peach at the edges. Heavy bloom makes a very startling and showy clump.

Gold standards with slight violet line up the midrib. Falls are lavender purple with deep gold thumbprints on either side of brilliant tangerine beards. A brown band around the falls brings the whole pattern to life. Wide overlapping falls, an easy grower and very floriferous, Diamond Heart is a welcome addition to the early season.

Standards are flesh pink with peach edges. Falls are flushed slightly lighter flesh pink with a wide blended peach band. Beards are kind of a strange mango peach. A very different and very pretty color combination.

Slight sweet fragrance. Brilliant coral pink self being a bit darker in the standards. The white beards are the perfect complement. A favorite of mine and used heavily in hybridizing.

Sweet fragrance. Standards have pink centers with light creamy yellow edges. Falls are cream with deep pink hafts and variable fall wash and then banded in honey pink. Very ruffled flowers are carried on tall strong stems. An early variety that continues blooming well into the midseason. Beautiful.

Slight sweet fragrance Isn’t she stunning as she glides down the runway! Pristine white standards encapsulate white styles rimmed pink. Silken, diamond dusted creamy falls wash to pale buff edges. Mid pink beards assure her couture is anything but common. Hybridizers have worked many years for whites with pink instead of orange beards and finally here it is. Sweet fragrance. Cream based standards have pink centers and a light lemon veined band. Falls are a rich apricot with light apricot below the beard and touched pink below the hafts. Steely blue white standards have a deep mustard central spot. Falls are icy white, with light lemon texture veins, and a deep mustard haft. Extremely wide and ruffled flowers bloom in profusion on tall, well branched and budded stems. A very different pattern that calls for closer inspection. Sdlg. DIAMONDS ON VELVET (Paul Black 26)

A tall show-stopping iris with persuasive garden presence. Broad, ruffled, mid navy-blue standards rise above dramatic, expansive, darkest navy falls, etched with fine veining centered around a brooding golden sienna beard that adds striking contrast. SUNSHINE HEART (Thomas Johnson ’26)
TB Midseason-late 37” (94cm) Slight fragrance.
Brilliant golden yellow standards rise above falls with a golden yellow center and a reddish violet overlay wash below the beard. The overlay becomes a deep reddish violet band, with a lighter rosy pink narrow edge. Lots going on in this flower for sure. Patterned iris like this one are so fun, in that the longer you look at them the more complex you realize the color scheme is.
