Big, round and buxom. She was ‘Born this Way’. Frothy, exuberantly ruffled fuchsia rose falls are widely banded near white with an interesting veined transition between central color and banding. Strong well-branched stalks carry these beauties in regal fashion. Easy increaser. Unfortunately the cross tag was lost.

Yes, it will always be a puzzle as to what the parentage is since the tag was lost. ‘Puzzled’ is such a unique creation that most people won’t care. Standards are buttery peach with orangish texture veins. Wide and ruffled falls are an interesting irregular maroon wash over light lavender ground blending lighter toward edges. Beards are dark orange. Show stalks have ample buds. Growth is strong and increase abundant.

Sweet fragrance. We look forward to TIMELESS TREASURE to bloom each year. It always puts on such a show. Moderately sized more tailored flowers are borne in profusion with a more open clump effect. This allows the viewing of each individual flower yet still giving a visual mass of color. A unique and bright color with pink Standards over lavender falls with a deeper lavender waterfall pattern that extends from the beard to a pink fall border. We Like!!

WHEN DOVES CRY (T.Johnson ’18)

A lovely clean and ruffled bicolor iris. Standards are icy white with light lemon highlights especially shot up the midrib. Falls are a plush burgundy with nice wide and precise lavender bands and a darker wire rim. Nice orange beards contrast nicely with the plush burgundy falls. A favorite and used a lot in hybridizing.

These more simply formed purple black flowers are born in great abundance from healthy clumps. Elaborately branched stalks composed of a main stalk and two basal branches produce 15-18 flowers. The garden impact is one of exuberance.

Sweet fragrance. Rich coral orange standards and style arms with a slight violet plicata wash in the standards. Falls are salmon with medium maroon plicata dots. Beards are a bright coral orange.

FLIRTY TEASE (Thomas Johnson ’22)

Sweet fragrance. A bit of a hard color combination to describe. Standards are a muted lavender violet lightening towards the edge and becoming a gold band and then a very light lavender edge. Falls are mostly a deep plush red-violet but with a deeper blue blended central belly stripe. The blue coloration also peeks through closer to the fall edge. The edge of the petal has a border of light flesh pink. The blue tipped beards also add a lot to the pattern. Wonderful large and ruffled flowers with exquisite form that keeps you coming back for another look. 8 buds are borne on nicely branched stems. Proving to be an excellent parent. The color does lighten with age but gracefully and with class.

Sweet fragrance. Lavender pink standards are deeper lavender in the center. Falls are a rich deep lavender blue with a heavier blue wash in the center. Beards are a burnt orange. Nice classically formed ruffled and lightly laced flowers are borne in abundance on well branched stems. Definitely for the lover of rich bicolored and laced iris.

Sweet fragrance. A dark purple self, or bicolor with ruffles or lace, and a yellow beard has been a project of mine. Own The Night is headed in that direction. Medium purple standards sit atop plush deep purple falls with a light narrow edge. Mustard tipped beards set it off. Very nicely ruffled and formed with strong stems and ten buds. Marked as an introduction since maiden bloom. Flashy!!

Sweet fragrance. Flesh pink standards have medium lavender shot up the midribs and light lemon touched petal edges. Falls are a very rich lavender violet with a lighter edge. Sweet fragrance. Standards have medium rose pink centers and a flesh pink edge. Falls are a rich purple with a near black purple haft. Even the beard is dark being purple with burnt orange hair tips giving it a bit of a gothic look. I love pink and purple combinations although they are not that common. A very pretty iris. Sdlg. No fragrance This bold devil is all about motion and intensity. Let the dance begin. Highly ruffled vivid mid yellow standards swirl around same-colored styles with crests streaked rust. Edges of velvety red-black falls are trimmed mid red and yellow. White veins thrust over the hafts in a moustache pattern. Clumps are ooh la la hot! Pronounced sweet fragrance This little jewel represents one more refinement in a many generations quest for late blooming, multi-budded and branched stalks with shorter foliage so all flowers can be seen. I place it close to the top of my breeding accomplishments. Clear mid yellow flowers are born on 2 branches plus spur and 7-8 buds. That sort of stalk and buds would make even a TB proud. Stalks are mid slate purple. Now the challenge is to add more colors and patterns. Imagine the breeding potential represented here. An easy candidate for “Queen of Show”. Sdlg.
