A total new pattern in TBs is emerging. We have loved this one from its maiden bloom. Garden nickname had been “pansy face” because it reminds us of a pattern you would find on a Pansy flower. Standards are lemon yellow deeper at the base. Falls are white with a faint yellow halo band near edge of petals. What really sets this flower off is the dramatic rusy to red central signal that surrounds the orange beard. Not the easiest of parents but from what we have bloomed from it so far it is well worth the effort. Nice stem with up to 8 buds.

COURAGEOUS ONE (Thomas Johnson ’22)
BB Midseason 27” (69cm)
Light sweet fragrance. Canary yellow standards lightening towards the edge. Falls are a very light yellow base washed slightly darker to the edge. A large rust red signal radiates out from around the beards and extends half way down the fall. Nicely proportioned BB and very showy and unique.

Slight sweet fragrance. Pure white standards and styles. Falls are white with a medium blue haft and brindled wash throughout. Brilliant tangerine beards shine brightly. Very sharp and clean.

FIELDS OF GOLD (T. Johnson ’23)

Light sweet fragrance. Standards are a deep lemon yellow with the edges being a light lemon. Falls are an interesting blend of lemon and maroon in the center giving somewhat of a brown effect. The petal edge of the fall is encircled in a wide cream and lemon blended band. The color of the fall can be quite different depending on the weather and the year. This last spring we were cool and wet the whole time and the flowers opened up a rich brown in the fall and then transitioned to the lighter color. ON ANGEL WINGS (T. Johnson ’24)

Sweet fragrance. Butter yellow standards. Falls are white with deep golden yellow hafts and a light lemon-yellow band. Nicely branched and budded stems. On Angel Wings is like a ray of sunshine in the garden. Nice in a clump. Sdlg. TM161A: Absolute Truth X Truth Or Dare

COMPLEXITY (T. Johnson ’25)
TB Midseason-late 36” (91.5cm) Slight sweet fragrance.
Standards are light lavender, with muted gold in the center and edge. Falls are white with deep violet lines extending from the beard then becoming a wash as the pattern blends into a violet band. Complexity has very wide and billowing form in a unique color.

FALCON HEART (T. Johnson ’25)
TB Early-midseason 36” (91.5cm) Slight sweet fragrance.
Standards are light yellow with medium lemon yellow centers. Falls have a very deep maroon central spot that becomes a wash as it moves toward the edge. There is then a light violet blushed area before becoming a clear light yellow band. A very clean and dramatic pattern and another step in the ‘pansy face’ pattern.

SUDDEN OUTBURST (T. Johnson ’25)
TB Early-midseason 37” (94cm) Sweetly scented.
Sudden Outburst comes from the ‘pansy face’ pattern breeding program. Standards are icy blue white. Falls are a rich deep violet with reddish hafts and a wide lavender band. Very pretty and well received at the local iris show.
