Another iris with a very complex color pattern. White standards are heavily infused yellow in the center. Falls have deep lemon hafts then a white area below the beard which transitions into a lavender wash and finally a wide blended rust and purple blended band with a darker wire rim. It is a pretty wild color pattern and is very distinctive in the garden. Tall well branched stalks assure that it won’t be overlooked.

SPINE TINGLER (T. Johnson ’22)

Sweet fragrance. Luminatas have always been a favorite of mine and I am super excited about Spine Tingler. The form is divine-very wide and ruffled flowers on show stems with high bud count. A clump of it approaches perfection. Inky purple standards with nice precise gold edging. Darker violet falls with nice creamy-white lumi patch that is touched gold with a short white dart below the orange beard. The very wide ruffled falls are edged in gold. Recommended for the lovers of this pattern.

SUN PEEKING OUT (P. Black 22)

Moderate sweet fragrance. This classically formed and ruffled beauty has silvery cream based standards blending upward to pale yellow with sunny yellow styles peering out from between them. Warm white ground falls have mid ochre plicata marked hafts and one inch light yellow bands subtly marked tan. Seven to eight buds are elegantly presented on stalks with 3 branches.

Sweet fragrance. ‘Me And My Shadow’ has been an excellent parent. I am excited about the possibilities of using Never Never Land in plicata breeding since it is half plicata. Its vivid red-orange beards will be a wonderful bold addition when transferred to plicatas. Superior garden traits make it a great garden subject. Standards are light blue with a tan wire rim. Falls are velvety purple black with a narrow purple band. A touch of light apricot in the center accentuates the bold red-orange beards. Sdlg. BB164D: Daffy Duck X Me And My Shadow

VARIATION ON A THEME (P. Black '25)
TB Midseason-late 33” (84cm) Slight musky fragrance.
This theme includes several medians and I. aphylla in the parentage. I’m excited when I can add more diversity in a cross. As I like to say, “More is more.” The blending, shades, and patterning of blue bring to mind the ever-changing skies. Standards are mid-dark blue blending to mid-light blue toward edges. Inky dark blue falls blend to wide light blue bands. Two-toned beards are a fun accent. Moderately sized flowers are carried on three branches having 9-10 buds.
