HONOR ROLL (Thomas Johnson ’22)

Sweet fragrance. Honor Roll is the fourth sister in this cross to be introduced and it has been used heavily in my hybridizing program. Palest cream standards are veined and infused light lemon and deep gold at the base. Falls are a very deep plush burgundy with a wide light lavender band that blends into a light yellow edge. Heavily ruffled parts of the petal backs show and add to the effect with multiple layers of color. Nice stems with good branching and bud count make it a winner. A very beautiful iris and a favorite for sure. Check out all the pictures of Honor Roll as the flower ages through the days the yellow pigments become more creamy white. Gorgeous either way, we love this iris and we think you will too.

Pronounced sweet fragrance Oh YES, I really like this one. Be sure to take in the lovely, nuanced colors. Tight classically formed flowers have waxen substance and sheen. Lightly laced red brown standards blend to wide dark mulberry bands, a very interesting color transition. Narrow crinkle laced black cherry falls are touched with white dotting. The white chevron around the multi-layered beard is heavily mottled mid black cherry. Three layered beards are white to dark purple and tipped old gold. Strong, disease resistant foliage. Slight sweet fragrance Interestingly, this cross had about 1/3 broken colored seedlings. I don’t know where it comes from. Ecru standards have light old gold centers turning to lines and then heavier stitched borders. Random rosy wine splashes further decorate them. Crests of dark gold styles are striped red-brown. White falls are heavily washed and mottled dark brown. Random streaks and flecks of white make it a bit whimsical. Multi-layered dark brown and old gold beards terminate in small black aril signals. RUM AND RAISIN (P. Black '25)
SDB Early-midseason 13” (33cm) Pronounced sweet fragrance.
If you like earth tones, Rum And Raisin is for you. Standards are mid-light caramel tan. Multiple rings of color in the falls start with mid gold hafts with light tan plicata marks, then to a wide mid raisin band blended to mid gold bands. Muted mid marigold beards are a subtle contrast. YUM!

ATHENA’S ROBE (P. Black '25)
TB Midseason-late 30” (76cm) Slight musky fragrance.
Give your garden an alluring covering with this multi-colored beauty. Solid gold standards stand proudly above mid blue-violet falls graced with harvest gold hafts and light mauve-brown distal banding. Large marigold beards ensure it won’t be lost among the others. Shorter stalks stand against strong winds and have 2 branches plus spur and 7-8 buds. Robust growth.
