Standards are a blended pink with peach gold bands. Falls are white with a narrow light peach band. There is a slight medium peach touched haft area on either side of large powder blue beards. Wonderful wide and ruffled and even slightly laced flowers are carried on gorgeous show stems. A fantastic way to close the season. A very much admired, elegant beauty!!

Pronounced sweet fragrance Reveille sounds as the brilliant sun rises just like the vivid yellow-gold standards of this showy flower. Pristine white falls have dark amber bands with red-violet halos inside them. Big bright yellow beards echo the standards color. Three branches and 8-9 buds ensure a lengthy bloom. Showy clumps and shorter stature provide a bright spot toward the front of your landscape.

Light fragrance Peach-pink Standards. Falls are white with peach hafts and edge. Beards are tangerine with lavender-white at the end. The emphasis here is ruffles and more ruffles! The standards are extremely ruffled, creating a very feathery display. If you like ruffles you know there is “never enough”! SECRET CHORD (T. Johnson ’23)

Light fragrance. The color of Secret Chord is hard to describe but here we go. Standards have a brassy gold base then they are washed and dotted mulberry in the center finally forming a brass band. Falls are creamy white with deep violet on either side of, (and forming a dart just below), the beard. There is a deep mulberry red fall band with purple violet dots inside the band. All in all it makes for a very startling color combo. Combine all that with wide heavily ruffled form and you have a grand garden iris. We have used Secret Chord heavily in our breeding program. Sweet fragrance. Deep plum standards and band on blue lavender falls. There is also a brown rayed patch on either side of the beard. Speaking of the beard, it is humongous!! Slight fragrance. Medium pink standards. White falls are flushed pink, becoming deeper at the edges. Beards are a lovely violet blue with just a brushing of orange at the hair tips, giving a very pretty effect. Standards are medium lavender-purple with slightly deeper centers. Falls are lavender-purple with a deep intense oxblood red area around and just below the brownish beard. Amazing color!

The bubbly personality of Magic is Happening is like a fine bottle of champagne. Its presence just makes you happy. It has a great combination of light blue on white plicata standards and narrow red-violet plicata banded falls. Falls are expansive, nicely flared, and have a perfect amount of ruffling. You need some time to take in this exceptional creation. Three well-spaced branches have 8-9 buds.

What a great end to the season this laced wonder is. Standards of mid orchid blend to rosy pink and are topped and edged with crinkled lace. Expansive falls blend from grayed white centers to rosy pink, and are also edged in lace. Colorful yet elegant. Show stalks, just in case you ever have a really late show.

The name was inspired by our young iris enthusiast friend Dylan Just. If you have ever seen his lively inspiring iris videos, you will certainly recognize the phrase “are you kidding me” as his signature punchline. It is a very fitting name, and very descriptive of the way I myself felt the year it first bloomed. It comes from the line of unique iris that have been coined the ‘pansy face’ pattern. I love everything about this iris, from its lavender standards with maroon base, to its wide and ruffled falls with deep maroon central overlay. I have been working on the ‘pansy face’ pattern, or you could say ‘signal’ pattern, in TBs for quite a few years. Trying to get different colors in the pattern has been fun. Eye Love You has a lot going on in the color department. Standards are flesh to peach, with large pink centers and a lavender infusion up the midrib. Falls are light lavender with a deep maroon signal, and upon closer inspection, there is a very faint lighter peach band. The orange beard sitting on top of the maroon signal just makes the whole thing pop. It certainly makes for a brilliant display in the fields, and won’t be mistaken for any other iris. Sdlg. I am not even going to try to describe the colors of Laughing Matter. The pattern is so complex that I couldn’t possibly begin to do it justice in a written description; the photo kind of says it all. An absolutely stunning combination of colors, and one that most certainly will not be mistaken for anything else. Certainly not a pattern for the faint of heart. We love it and hope you will too. Ooh la la, this one is a stunner. I am not usually overtaken by yellow and white, as the pattern has been done before, but... I simply cannot get enough of this. The form is impeccable, the stems and bud count are first rate, and the clumps are like heaven! The color is so clean and clear, and applied in such a way, that it makes me want to just pull up a chair and sit and stare at it all day long. Is it a glaciata? If you look deep in the heart, you will see the smallest of short purple lines. Whatever the classification, it is certainly gorgeous and highly recommended. Sdlg. Light lavender standards have a lighter area with lilac dotting in the center. Deep salmon pink style arms peek out from inside the standards, adding great contrast. Falls are white, with a deep plum purple band and light lavender edge. A deep plum center stripe extends from just below the red-orange beard to the plum band.
