I have been working on the blue bearded pink iris pattern for quite a few years. The biggest challenge is to keep the blue beard and get the petals a more true pink and less lavender pink. I am quite happy with Eyes of an Angel. Beautiful pink standards and edge on white falls with frosted powder blue beards. Wonderful wide and ruffled flowers on good stems. A knockout in person and a must for the lover of blue bearded pinks.

SOMEBODY TO LOVE (T. Johnson ’22)

Sweet fragrance. Bluish pink standards and edge on icy blue white falls. Big, bushy, frosted light blue beards add to the attraction. Nice wide form on heavily ruffled and ever so slightly laced flowers. The coloring is somewhat similar to last year’s introduction, Eyes Of An Angel. Someone To Love is more of a blue pink in color and the beards are larger. They are definitely different in the garden and have different parental heritage. Both are a great advancement in the blue bearded pink breeding lines.

Blue pink standards have lighter pink edges. Falls are the faintest lavender white, deepening slightly before becoming a flesh band. Medium lavender beards are large and bushy. Medium orchid pink standards sit atop icy blue white falls with rosy orchid shadings that then form a medium rosy orchid pink band. Beards are powder blue tipped in white. Great stems and bud count on this showy beauty. I am such a sucker for blue beards, especially on pinks. Miss You Bad is another great addition to the lineup. Sdlg. Standards are medium blue pink. Falls are white, with a flesh edge and gorgeous powder blue beards. See That Girl has wonderful ruffled form, and good stems and bud count.
