Deep toasted watermelon standards with lighter edges. Falls are light creamy pink with deeper toasted watermelon area around beard extending to a fall wash and then a light buff pink band. Very nicely ruffled full formed flowers are carried on nice show stems with 8 buds. A very lovely blended creation.

This iris is a very complex mix of colors and is hard to describe. I think it is best to just look at the picture. The name Coat of Many Colors seems to fit it well. Nicely branched stems and good bud count combined with lovely ruffled form make it a winner for sure. On top of all of that it is a hybridizers dream, giving some of the most awesome patterns in the seedling patch this past season. Coat of Many Colors is the product of two Barry Blyth seedlings. Recommended!!

DREAM ABOUT YOU (T. Johnson ’18)

Standards mustard to lemon yellow. Falls are a rich medium mauve to violet with a lighter brownish fall edge. Hafts are touched yellow to brown on either side of russet beards. An iris that is a bit difficult to photograph. Super form and ruffles on well branched and budded show stalks. A favorite and tagged for introduction from its maiden bloom. Recommended!!

Some iris just remind me of food, perhaps it is just my insatiable appetite talking, but this one reminds me of some sort of yummy mango flavored dessert. Say the Word has very ruffled mango to peach blended standards and edge on white falls with a deep mango wash on the hafts and below the beard. A good grower and bloomer, Say the Word is a stunner; especially in full sun the color really shines. Very unique and won’t be confused with another. Gorgeous!!

UNTAMED GLORY (T. Johnson ’21)

Untamed Glory is a novelty iris. It very consistently has six falls and no standards, but instead of going completely flat they hold in the shape of a magnolia bloom. It is very reminiscent in form of a very old cultivar by Opal Brown called Pink Magnolia. A clump of Untamed Glory will completely cover itself with these large ruffled salmon pink flowers with irregular white broken color. Definitely an iris for those who love the novelties.

Cream to flesh pink standards that are heavily infused antique to rose pink in centers. Falls are deeper flamingo to rose pink with tangerine beards. Nicely formed and ruffled flowers are carried on show stems with 11 buds early in the season. Coming out of a cross made with two Blyth seedlings. Very nice!

Sweet fragrance. Egg shell to light lavender standards with a narrow buff-gold ruffled rim. Milk glass white falls have a deep violet plicata band. There is a heavy concentration of violet across the hafts that forms a solid violet dart below burnt orange beards. Contrasting medium salmon style arms and a slight blush of salmon on the hafts of the falls completes the effect. A super strong grower with lovely show stems and triple bud sockets from top to bottom yields 12 or more total buds.

Light sweet fragrance. Pink Standards and hafts over medium lavender falls. Huge blocky flowers with excellent form are carried on show stems. Check out the differing shots of it on the website. The color can be quite different with lighting, different days or even different years. Generally, the more overcast and cooler that it is the darker the color. For many years I have worked with plicatas that are the result of outcrosses to bicolors, to increase vigor and bring more diversity in color and pattern. Future Dreams is so named because of the wide-ranging breeding potential in this pattern. Standards are deep lavender purple with darker maroon veining. Falls are white with a deep maroon haft and band. If that weren’t enough, upon closer inspection, you will notice broken color within the band. A totally unique and distinctive color and pattern variation in plicatas. Flowers are well-formed, and carried on strong show stems with lots of buds. I had a dream many years ago to take that wonderful burnt orange color on the iris ‘Shockaholic’ and put it on a plant that had wider branching and a better stem, thus the name of this lovely result, Mission Accomplished. I am very happy with this one. The standards are light blue lavender with a deep orange spot in the center. Falls are rich burnt orange with a lighter edge. Beards are rich tangerine to red. Lacy lavender standards are flushed pink in the centers. Lavender pink falls have a deep violet haft and a lighter flush below the beard.
