Sweet fragrance. Yellow standards. Falls have a white ground with yellow hafts and wide band. Maroon lines radiate out across the hafts and below the beard forming a pattern. The cross that produced Curly Fries was made note only for color but form. Both parents are known to transmit a nice ruffled form to its children so it seemed like a perfect marriage. Really beautiful ruffles and a bright orange beard. Very cool looking.

JUST CURIOUS (Thomas Johnson ’22)

Sweet fragrance. Medium orange standards with darker centers and style arms. Falls are a light butter yellow with an old rose band and lighter white area below the brilliant orange beard. Super grower with well branched and budded show stems. I have used Just Curious heavily in hybridizing, it is a fantastic parent for all sorts of different rimmed patterns. It also transmits its vigorous plant habit and great stems quite easily to its children. There will be many introductions from it in the next few years. Beautiful!!

Pronounced sweet fragrance ‘Child’ is the beginning of a new color pattern of pink and yellow bi-colors. Mid pink standards sit atop light yellow falls washed pale pink then decorated with half tangerine and half soft lavender beards. Very pretty.

Sweet fragrance. Orange standards with pink infusions in the center. Falls have a pinkish orange base color with overall magenta dotting and veining. Beards are an intensely saturated tangerine. Sweet fragrance. Another ‘Crocodile Smile’ child. It has an interesting combination of cool colored standards and warm falls. Falls show a slightly different expression of the plicata pattern. Also notice the interesting dotted plicata pattern on the back of the falls, characteristic of many ‘Crocodile Smile’ offspring. Near solid gray plum standards sit atop butter yellow ground falls with a nearly solid overlay of dark plum and marigold beards. Sdlg. Another child from the great Hard To Resist. Very light icy blue white standards have a slightly darker bluish rim. Falls are pristine white with a deep lavender blue band and shocking red beards. Very nice stems and buds on this well formed beauty.

MEGASTAR (P. Black '25)

This was my favorite seedling out of all of the BB year seedlings. I returned repeatedly to have another look. There is such an overwhelming amount of color and patterning that one viewing isn’t enough to take it in. It is another Crocodile Smile child, which shows its importance as a parent. Warm white standards have a wide light violet plicata outer band and a wide light khaki tan sanded and lined plicata band. Style arms are contrasting dark gold. White falls have wide dark violet to dark plum lined and sanded plicata bands. Rich brown beards are the perfect accent. Three branches produce 8-9 buds.
