A stunning color combination. The standards are creamy beige and falls are dusky rose with soft lemon overlay around the burnt tango beards and a 1/4” edge of beige finish it off. Standards are slightly open but firm. Show stems and very fertile. Love this and want to see the seedlings from this Iris.

Cream Standards are flushed and washed pink and lavender. Falls have a peach to orange haft area and slightly lighter fall edge. Deep purple diffused lines radiate from below the beards to near petals edge. Even the beards are a strange blend of coral pink to lavender. A lovely color combination that is hard to describe.

She has it all, grace, charm, looks, and poise - she's a SUPER MODEL. This SUPER MODEL excels where other heavily laced violet types have failed. When she finishes blooming there is still plenty of increase left. Many visitors to the AIS convention this past year remarked on that trait. Perfectly formed medium lilac flowers are edged in heavy crinkled lace. With all this lace, SUPER MODEL still opens easily. Strong show stalks normally open two well placed flowers at once. Be the first one on your block with your own SUPER MODEL. Hopefully this will be the key to unlock the overbloom problem in this color range.

No fragrance. We have loved this since its opening bloom. An amoena plicata. White standards. White styles, with blue behind the anthers. The falls are pure white with1/4” mid blue plicata stitched edge and deeper blue violet hafts, reaching across to the white based, tipped yellow beards. Gorgeous balanced ruffled form. Fertile.

Sweet fragrance. Salmon pink standards over orchid falls with a slight blue flash below the red-orange beards. A very strong grower that makes a very elegant clump filled with bloom. What we really like about Double Jeopardy is how it displays itself. The sequence and placement of blooms and stalks allows for an open look that does not overcrowd. Each flower is an individual ruffled creation. A favorite of mine for the last few years as it never fails to dazzle. Recommended!!

Sweet fragrance. Light yellow standards sit atop clean orchid blue falls. There is a lighter orchid wash area below the yellow-orange beard. Great stems with nice branching and bud count. The form is wide and expansive with nice ruffles. The photo shows what the flower looks like after it has been fully open for a day. The color starts out darker and transforms to the photo color. A very clean and pretty bicolor.

No fragrance. These early bright blooming clumps will get you pumped up for the coming bloom season. Peach pink standards blend to buttery peach margins. Mid peach falls blend darker toward edges and have widely spaced dark purple veins overall. Fat vivid orange beards keep your heart pounding. Myriads of show stalks have 3 branches and 7-8 buds.

STARRY STARRY NIGHT (P. Black '22)

Slight musky fragrance It is a night you’ll long remember. Classically formed, ruffled and lightly laced purple black flowers have standards with white sanded veins over their centers that show their plicata heritage. White fall hafts have closely spaced purple black lines and sanded veins transitioning to velvety purple black falls. Butterscotch beards turn to white climaxing in a white shooting star dart for a dramatic accent. It has a stunning presence even before opening. Bud reverses have chartreuse haft centers streaking into white center bands then white veins streaking into dark purple outer bands. It is an awesome look. Sturdy growth produces 4 well-spaced branches but only 7 buds. As if this wasn’t enough, it has been a mystery progenitor of many broken color plicatas. There is nothing in the parentage to suggest this trait. I’m still exploring its potential. In one cross, about a third of the seedlings looked like it, a third were standard plicata types and a third were broken color plicatas. There is much to be explored!

Light sweet fragrance. Standards are a deep lemon yellow with the edges being a light lemon. Falls are an interesting blend of lemon and maroon in the center giving somewhat of a brown effect. The petal edge of the fall is encircled in a wide cream and lemon blended band. The color of the fall can be quite different depending on the weather and the year. This last spring we were cool and wet the whole time and the flowers opened up a rich brown in the fall and then transitioned to the lighter color. Sweet fragrance. Deep gold standards with medium red veins thorough out. Falls have a gold base which is then overlaid with a deep maroon across the hafts. Below the maroon hafts is a rose violet wash that extends to the gold edge. The dark masked signal carries the pattern well and can be seen clear across the garden. Sdlg. PROPENSITY (T. Johnson ’23)

Light sweet fragrance. Milky white standards are flushed light lemon in the center and at the petal edges. Falls are a rich lavender violet overlaid with a deep red violet spot that blends out to a light flesh pink edge. I have a bit of a soft spot for this sort of pattern and the application of the color is so good on Propensity. It doesn’t hurt that it has beautiful wide ruffled form on nice stems either. Sdlg. STAY IN LINE (T. Johnson ’23)

Light fragrance. White standards have a heavy peach pink washed center. Falls are Light orange with violet lines radiating out from below the beard. There is a wide orange band at the petal edge and within the band in the center is a large concentration of violet dots. Finally, we are starting to combine the dots and speckles pattern in a more controlled fashion instead of just random. It is also exciting to get some different colors going in the lined pattern. MEGA RUFFLES (Paul Black 23)

Slight spicy fragrance If ruffles are your delight, then you’ll be on max overload with this exuberantly ruffled beauty. Light rosy peach standards blend to wide buttery yellow bands. Velvety dark red-grape falls have darker veins and lines overall and are encased in precise, closely packed light rose-pink bands. Tan-gold beards echo the standards color. With so many ruffles, these larger flowers open easily and completely. There are two branches and only 5 buds. Buds open one at a time so each can be fully appreciated and not shorten the bloom time. Pronounced sweet fragrance Some seedlings are destined for introduction from the moment they open. This is one. It remains a favorite. White standards have light yellow centers changing to veining moving outward. Mid yellow styles echo the standards. Upper two-thirds of white falls are covered with heavy closely spaced dark red-brown veins and mottling. A white stripe bisects them. Neat half and half beards are mid gold ending in white. Slight spicy fragrance Descendants of ‘Delectable Treat’ have great substance. This is one of them. It takes 4 or 5 days for the flowers to open and expand. This cross gave a wide range of unique colors and patterns and most having superior branching and buds. Standards and styles are mid greenish yellow. Hafts of greenish cream falls are veined mid rosy brown changing to solid edgings along upper half. Dark pumpkin beards add a bit of warmth.
