This magnificently formed confection will take your breath away. Heavily ruffled and laced standards are toasted watermelon flushed dark violet up midribs. Expansive falls are palest pink blended darker toward laced edges and hafts. Pink texture veins are a lovely addition. Show stalks are the norm. Garden visitors give it five stars.

COME TO LIFE (T. Johnson ’20)

One of the first TB iris to flower and a good splash of color to kick off the season. Cream Standards are flushed heavily with peach in the center that transition to faint peach veins extending to the petal edges. Falls are a rich cantaloupe blending to more peach at the edges. Heavy bloom makes a very startling and showy clump.

ELEGANZA (T.Johnson ‘14)

Elegant it is. Prominent midribs of heavily ruffled white standards are flushed pink and blended outward. Hafts and edges of chalky white falls are touched pink. Strong show stalks insure it a place on the “Queen’s Court”. Fast increase and free bloom insure there’ll be plenty of them.

A delicious Iris with standards of icy pink flushed softest rose at midribs. The falls are light magenta with a ¼” well defined edge of the standard colour. Beards are lightly burnt tangerine. It has a light perfume. Huge blooms and well branched.

IGNITE THE LIGHT (T. Johnson ’21)

It has been hard for me to capture the beauty of this one in a photo. Very light yellow standards are heavily flushed deep golden yellow at the base and in the center transitioning to veining at the edge. Falls are a rich reddish brown with a lemon yellow and white blended band. A clump of this blooming in the full sun is spectacular. An excellent garden iris that is well branched, budded and floriferous.

Deep rose to salmon pink Standards over white falls flushed lavender pink deepening towards the edges. Deeper pink hafts and very large frosted powder blue beards are what really make this one special. Nicely ruffled and lightly laced on strong stems.

This came from a cross made in Keith Keppel’s garden in Oregon by me using an American Iris as pod parent and pollen parent is from a Keppel cross made in Australia from Australian varieties and seed sent back to US and raised by Keith Keppel. The seedling which was to become Magic in Me was raised and selected in Australia and was returned to America for naming and introduction, a complete international effort! Standards are creamy lemon, faintly flushed lavender at midribs. The falls are lavender-violet with blended tan around the edges and hafts. Beards are prominent burnt tangerine. An elegant Iris that grows easily and flowers in profusion.

Cream Standards are flushed and washed pink and lavender. Falls have a peach to orange haft area and slightly lighter fall edge. Deep purple diffused lines radiate from below the beards to near petals edge. Even the beards are a strange blend of coral pink to lavender. A lovely color combination that is hard to describe.

Light lemon-yellow infused pink standards, flushed heavier in the centers. Lavender and rose blended falls with deeper texture veins and lemon buff edge. Large gorgeous ruffled form. Not a color for everyone but one that I love and look forward to seeing each year. Definitely unique!

Slight sweet fragrance. Lavender pink standards are flushed flesh pink in the center. Falls are a lighter lavender pink with a faint pink band. Big bushy blue beards with frosted white hair tips. Very nice classical form with good ruffles. Nicely branched stems with good bud count. One of the deepest blue beards we have achieved thus far on a pink iris. Now if we can just hold that beard color and turn the petals a flamingo pink!! There is always something to shoot for!!

Pronounced sweet fragrance. Be careful this intriguing character doesn’t sneak up on you. Swirling mid to light slate blue standards are flushed darker gray violet up midribs. Ruffled mustard yellow falls have paler centers and are veined darker gold. Show stalks with 3 branches and spur have 8-10 buds which is characteristic of both parents. Robust growth ensures this gator will be back year after year.

Sweet fragrance. White ground standards are almost completely overlaid gold. The midrib is flushed violet. Falls are white with a deep velvet red band. There is medium red violet dotted band inside the darker band. Nicely ruffled flowers on a very bright and pleasing color combination. A nice classically ruffled form completes the look. Sdlg. Lightly scented. LOVELY LIVVY (T. Johnson ’23) TB early-midseason 35” (89cm) Lightly scented. This gorgeous iris is named to honor the late great Olivia Newton-John. Olivia was not only a very talented celebrity but she was a gorgeous human being. Although I never met her, I certainly followed her career and life. Always a kind, warm and loving person, she never acted the celebrity, taking time to acknowledge all who came upon her. She courageously fought breast cancer in an out of remission for 20 years. Never one to complain she always looked on the positive side of things. The latter part of her life was dedicated to finding a cure for Cancer. She founded the Oliva Newton-John Cancer And Wellness Centre In Melbourne, Australia, the country she called home. Here she tirelessly raised money to support cancer research using plant-based treatments. Lovely Livvy was the pet name the media used throughout Olivia’s life to describe her. The iris we have chosen to honor her kind of named itself. Firstly, it is pink, the color of breast cancer awareness. On top of that, I made the cross in the garden of Barry and Lesley Blyth (using two of Barry’s seedlings), who live only miles from where Olivia grew up. Lovely Livvy is an extraordinary and unique creation in a color combination that has not yet been seen in iris until now. White standards are flushed pink. Falls are a deeper rose pink with a gorgeous ruffled white band. Olivia with her kind and generous heart inspired me to do my part, so I donated a portion of the proceeds of each plant sold in its introductory year (2023) to her Cancer research centre in Australia. Light sweet fragrance. Very light lavender pink standards flushed deeper pink in the center. Falls are a clear medium lavender with pink touched hafts. Beards are lavender. Lovely tight ruffles and nice stems. Sdlg. TK220ZZ: parentage unknown faded tag.

Light sweet fragrance. Milky white standards are flushed light lemon in the center and at the petal edges. Falls are a rich lavender violet overlaid with a deep red violet spot that blends out to a light flesh pink edge. I have a bit of a soft spot for this sort of pattern and the application of the color is so good on Propensity. It doesn’t hurt that it has beautiful wide ruffled form on nice stems either. Sdlg. Pronounced sweet fragrance Such joyful colors say come on and celebrate when it is in bloom. Tightly constructed blooms have pale blue-white standards flushed light lilac up midribs. Slight fragrance. Medium pink standards. White falls are flushed pink, becoming deeper at the edges. Beards are a lovely violet blue with just a brushing of orange at the hair tips, giving a very pretty effect. Sweet fragrance. Clean and crisp medium yellow standards. Falls are a very interesting blend of violet and yellow. The hafts are touched more solid yellow and there is a more concentrated yellow-tan blend forming a band. The center of the fall is flushed violet.
