No fragrance It takes center stage with one of the most dramatically unique flowers. Standards and falls are both a study in color and pattern. Light buffy tan blended standards are widely banded with fine dark plum filigree. Old gold style crests striped dark brown emerge from between them. White falls are a puzzle of purple black veins and sanding overall becoming darker and more closely spaced toward edges. White stitching on reverses adds more distinction. Sweet fragrance. Deep golden yellow standards, deeper in the center. Falls are a medium blue purple with a wide red haft bar that extends out below the beard and then blends into the blue purple. There is a buff yellow fall edge setting the stage for the wild beards. Beards are yellow with long horns or flounces in shades of purple. Out Of Character was given its name because it is not always consistent with its horns. Some years they are very consistent throughout; other years it is less so. Along the way there are beautiful seedlings worthy of introduction, and this is one of those. Larger flowers are carried on sturdy stalks.
