Slight sweet fragrance. What shall I be? This one is ‘Slightly Confused’. Icy blue-white standards sometimes have wide light pink segments and the same for the falls. Sometimes falls are icy blue-white washed light pink overall. Showy beards are always dark violet blue.

Moderately wide dark wine plicata bands encircle sunny yellow falls. Intriguing waxy black-brown rays spread across wide hafts. Unusual dark sienna to dark brown beards are the perfect adornment. Slight fragrance. Very light yellow-orange standards. Falls have a white ground that is completely lined with deep maroon red lines and veins. The hafts are touched yellow. Beards are white with tangerine hair tips. Very striking and the first lined SDB in this color that we know of. The parents of this one are the two iris named after our two little dogs. Sdlg. Sweet fragrance. Golden yellow standards with a rust-red infusion at the midrib. Falls are near solid mahogany-red with a little bit of gold showing through and a pencil thin gold petal edge. Sweet fragrance. Standards are the darkest red violet with a very light rose edge. Falls are an intense shade of black mulberry with a thin light margin of light rose. There is just a touch of orange on either side of the white luminata patch. On The Cover is a very dark luminata but to the red tones of purple black where as many other dark luminatas currently on the market are to the blue tones of black. A little shorter in stature than some of the others but she certainly packs a lot of punch securing her place on the cover of the catalogue this year. Sdlg. TK22A: sister to last years intro

Lightly fragrant. More coral than pink, this self reminds me of the coral jewelry you can obtain in Hawaii. The color always stops me in the garden because of its intensity. The coral-pink is a little creamy around the beards. Beards are coral, lightening to peach at the upturned tip. Flowers are ruffled with slightly crimped edges. No fragrance This outfit comes from an interesting genetic mix of diploid and tetraploid parents plus an unknown. In trial crosses, ‘Fine Outfit’ has been fertile in diploid crosses but not tetraploid. Traditional diploid type flowers have mid lilac standards with darker fine lines overall. Elongated white hafts have wide dark purple veins with lower half being solid dark purple with white wire rim. Two branches sport 7 buds. Striking clumps filled with stalks and bloom. Sdlg. FUTURISTIC (Paul Black 23)

Slight sweet fragrance As far as I know, this is the first variegated foliage SDB to be introduced. I’ve bloomed others but none good enough to introduce. ‘Futuristic’ had an interesting beginning. Bloom the first year was a mix of gray-white flowers, grayed pink flowers and some broken colored of gray and pink. Since then, most have transitioned to light gray with a light tan haft veined darker slate tan and narrowly bordered slate violet. There are very subtle light tan broken color segments. Mid old gold beards give a little life to these more somber colors. ‘Futuristic’ is fertile and can produce variegated foliage and broken color flowers but progress is slow. Sdlg.
