Sweetly scented. We have been working on blue bearded pinks for quite some time. Continually working on getting the beard a more saturated blue. We really like YOU’RE THE ONE. Standards are a light lavender pink. Falls are a very light pink to almost white, deepening to a light pink rim. Beards are coral pink in the throat and frosted lavender at the end. Strong growth on nice show stems carrying 9 buds. Beautiful and elegant!!

Sweet fragrance. White standards with a light lemon-yellow flush up the midribs. Falls are white with an irregular dark lavender blue band. Lemon-yellow hafts shine brightly on either side of yellow-orange beards. Cash and Carry forms large clumps very quickly that cover themselves in bloom. Nicely formed flowers are held on consistent show stems carrying tens buds. A clump of Cash and Carry is simply amazing! Reliable fall rebloom!

Sweet fragrance. Creamy white standards with a very light violet plicata stitched edge and gold rim. Falls are stark white with deep violet plicata edge and haft. The beard is white at the base then violet and finally tipped orange. Very dark mustard yellow style arms provide a stark contrast. The crowning glory is the incredible show stems that are well branched and budded carrying 18 buds consistently. A very long period of bloom that starts with the early bloomers and continues into the late season. Impressive!!

Slight fragrance. Emphasis here is on the width and size of the flowers coming from its father, Hard to Resist. Yellow standards are edged in cream. Falls are yellow with a very wide violet border. Sweet fragrance. Icy white standards are heavily infused deep yellow in the center. Falls have a large deep yellow flash around and below the beard. Below the yellow flash is a blue wash that becomes red violet before forming a lavender blue band. A very beautiful and colorful combination. An easy and free flowering variety with good strong show stems carrying 9 buds. Nicely ruffled and very widely formed flowers. Large brilliant orange beards add to the display.

Pronounced sweet fragrance Two of this year’s introductions are from this cross that produced many delightful seedlings. ‘Me and My Shadow’ has proven to be a solid parent for quality later blooming hardy plicatas. Light blending to dark butterscotch standards have fine darker caramel veining. Styles are darker butterscotch with styles veined brown. Crisp white falls are decorated with wide dark burgundy plicata bands while near black irregular lines descend part way down their centers. Three well-spaced branches carry 7-8 buds. This one is a bit hard to describe. Standards are a lovely blended lavender with medium burnt orange centers transitioning to orange veins as they move toward the edge. Falls are a complex blend of colors that appear as a deep burnt orange to red creating a very lovely and distinctive color. Great branching and stems carry well-formed flowers that are a true delight. Coming from the beautifully colored and formed Shockaholic. Challenge Accepted is a nice advancement in this color pattern.

I have been working with Shockaholic as a parent, trying to put a really nice stem on intensely colored patterns involving orange. This one certainly makes the mark. Standards have pink centers that transition to peach. Falls are a vibrant medium orange. Great stems carry nicely ruffled and very elegant flowers. Such a lovely medley of colors!

RAZZLE DAZZLE ME (P. Black '25)

Can one possibly get more color on an iris? Probably, but this one makes a good run at it. Mid gold standards and styles top wide falls having mid red-purple centers with light grape finely sanded veins. Warm white hafts on each side of beards are heavily sanded and lined dark brown blended to dark black-brown edges. Moderate brassy khaki bands decorate the edges. Its pod parent Hotsy Totsy is an interesting parent for me. Two branches plus spur carry 7 buds.

LATE TO THE PARTY (P. Black '25)

For those in colder climates and areas subject to late frosts and freezes, a plicata being Late To The Party is a good thing. White standards have wide mid-dark purple plicata banding and sparse dotting over the center. The white of the standards accents the dark purple style arms. White falls have dark plum plicata hafts and narrow light plum plicata bands. The large mid marigold beards are an interesting accent. Overall, a very clean and exciting flower. The ground color and plicata markings are somewhat variable. Two branches plus spur carry 7-8 buds.
